Having the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 44mm for almost 4 weeks now, I think it's time to write some first comments-impressions.

Battery life: One of the "hot" topics that interests many. Personally, I easily get a day and a half with notifications on, heart rate monitoring, steps, stress, sleep tracking, etc... Usually, I charge it in the morning as soon as I wake up and in an hour at most it's ready to wear and start my day.

Calls: I have spoken a few times from the watch, call quality/sound is satisfactory. I could hear fine, they could hear me fine, without the person on the other end realizing that I was talking from the watch and not from my phone. Also, because some have asked me if you can make calls through viber/whatsapp, etc. You can answer a call through whatsapp and talk normally, but not on viber/messenger.

Messages: You have an application for "regular" SMS messages, where you can start a new conversation and see all your conversations. Message recording works fine in Greek and conversion to text, through the gboard app. In whatsapp/viber/messenger messages, you receive and respond normally (including voice), but you cannot start a new conversation.

Payments: Google Pay is supported normally, you can make your payments easily and quickly.

Measurements: Comparing with the previous amazfit GTR3/GTS3, it's not comparable, it's much better. Especially in heart rate monitoring, the others showed me even in relaxed walking, for example, 160 beats, this shows, for example, 100 or max 110 which is the reality. I also consider it reliable in step counting. I also observed to see if it counts steps when driving, fortunately it doesn't do anything like that (I have read in various reviews of other watches counting steps while driving, tragic).

WatchFaces: There are many watchfaces available on the playstore. The only "bad" thing is that most of them are available for a fee, however, there are applications that give daily coupons for free watchfaces or you may come across nice watchfaces with good discounts.

Weight/Durability: Personally, I find it very light and comfortable, almost not feeling that I am wearing it or just barely feeling it. I put a membrane on the screen and also got an extra case which I wear on special occasions, where it might get hit or scratched to be protected.

One negative I notice on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is the vibration... Even in the "prolonged" and "strong" setting, it doesn't have much intensity. In calls while I was sleeping, I didn't wake up. I say this comparing, for example, the vibration on Amazfit GTR 2/GTR 3/GTS 3 which was more intense.

The battery is tragically borderline... It lasts at most one day with moderate use... If I use it heavily, it lasts a maximum of 5 hours... Its measurements or its beauty and everything else are a disappointment.

After 5 months of use, I can now say more accurately that the battery remains tragic... Below a certain battery percentage, the measurements are completely wrong... This percentage is below 30%... During a cycling workout, it goes from 90% to 30% within 5 hours at most... The only reason I bought it was because I was afraid that Huawei wouldn't have a good connection with my Samsung phone... Essentially, I wanted to make sure that I would have all the functions at their maximum... If someone knows and can confirm that Huawei syncs perfectly with Galaxy phones, then let us know so that we don't buy a Galaxy watch again... It's borderline a waste of money... Not because it doesn't take accurate measurements (which it doesn't when the battery is low), but because it won't offer anything more than other watches for an average user... Other brands I mentioned earlier have their batteries last 2 weeks with full use for the same price... I regret it... And I say it again... I have no complaints about the measurements... It does what it says perfectly fine... However, the battery doesn't last at all, making it non-functional, and if the connection with watches from other brands is equally easy and user-friendly as with Galaxy phones, then the Galaxy watch is definitely not worth it.

  Beautiful unisex watch that fits very well on the wrist and is very lightweight... its functions are quite good, but there are 2 negative points...
  1) If you want to take advantage of its capabilities, you definitely need to charge it once a day...
  with everything closed (flight mode, brightness at minimum, heart rate every 10 minutes, the battery lasts 3 days)
  2) The electrocardiogram and blood pressure measurement (which requires calibration with a regular blood pressure monitor every 30 days) only work if you have a Samsung mobile phone... wrong for me...

  After a few years with the Huawei GT2e, which I was satisfied with, I switched to the Watch 5. I liked the Huawei more in terms of design, while this one could be described as more "faceless", however, I imagine it is more durable, at least in terms of the screen (this will be evident over time).
  However, the main issue - which is also a double-edged sword - is battery life.
  Battery life is a somewhat misunderstood parameter: either you will have battery life by disabling automatic activity recognition and putting the processor in low power mode, or it will work properly and recognize every activity you do (running, cycling, swimming, etc.), and of course, it will consume battery for breakfast. Also, there is a difference between the 600nits screen brightness of Huawei and the 1000 and now 2000nits brightness of Samsung, Apple, etc. You choose and take what you prefer. Personally, because I exercise daily, the Samsung is more convenient for me as it automatically detects and starts recording all activities, which is available on Huawei as well but with limitations (you have to confirm the start of recording, which only applies to running, and when it works and when it doesn't). It's not that some manufacturers have discovered the wheel with long battery life while others are sleeping; it's that there are trade-offs in some parameters. Additionally, the Samsung's measurements are now so accurate - at least for heart rate - that using a chest strap becomes unnecessary. The only downside is that blood pressure and electrocardiogram required a workaround to function on the Pixel phone I have. So, in the battery department, as strange as it may seem to most people, I give it an excellent rating precisely because it does what it promises correctly, and as a result, it is logical for it to consume more battery.

  Coming from the Samsung Galaxy sport watch model of 2017 (which recently left us after swimming in the sea (although it is not for swimming in open water and I had taken a bath several times) after endless hits it had taken without even having a protective glass) the choice in the newer watch 5 seemed like a one-way street even though I am the owner of a Xiaomi Redmi note 8 mobile. Truly, the watch is a true smartwatch and personally, the battery that barely lasts two days does not bother me since I take it off at night and leave it charging, just like I do with my mobile.

  I was interested in a mobile that I could send messages from, make calls, answer or reject calls (it has a speaker and microphone to talk from the watch or transfer the call to the mobile), reply to Viber messages, emails, etc. (and all this thanks to the Gboard voice typing that you can also download for the Greek language) without having to touch the mobile because, for example, I am driving or have wet or dirty hands, to have a picture of my daily activity (walking, running, elliptical machine).
  To see the calendar and any notifications. To listen to music (you can store it directly on the watch and listen to it even if you don't have the mobile with you, it took 5 minutes to transfer 20 songs), to use YouTube, etc.
  The watch does all this and more.
  As for the extras, it even has a flashlight.
  A plethora of applications that you can download and customize the watch according to your preferences.
  Even an application to control the mobile's camera remotely.
  Google searches, maps with visualization like mobile maps and GPS, alarms, recording, photos from the mobile that you can transfer to the watch, and generally everything I do from the mobile, I can do it from the watch. The only exception is that I can't start a new conversation on Viber, only reply if someone messages me.
  I have already bumped it a couple of times and luckily it hasn't been damaged. However, it's worth spending 10-20 euros to get straps and screen protectors to keep your mind at ease and refresh the appearance of the watch.
  I have tested its range and when I go out of the house, it disconnects after 10-15 meters and reconnects when I get closer. Very satisfied with this aspect.
  Truly, the watch is worth it. I was torn between the Xiaomi active (due to the brand of the mobile) but I haven't regretted it at all since for 30-40 euros more, I bought a complete smartwatch and I would recommend it to all Android mobile users. At a price below 200 euros, since I have researched it thoroughly, there is no other watch that can do all these things.

  Very nice watch in terms of appearance. It meets my needs in terms of what it offers. However, the battery is a big issue. I have it on flight mode most of the day, and only have it connected to my phone for about 6 hours at work, and even so, the battery doesn't last more than a day and a half (I had a Samsung before and with the same usage, it would last me a full 6 days). The positive thing is that it charges quickly while taking a shower.

I also liked that it has an SOS button and a fall sensor, but the blood pressure measurement gives wrong values and probably also for stress. I won't change the stars because I believe it could be more affordable and compatible with all devices, not just Samsung.

  Coming from 8 Apple watches, I have to say that based on the purchase price of around €200, it's a great value. While the Apple Watch may seem a bit faster and more agile, I can't justify (even as an Apple fanboy) paying €200-300 for it. The Galaxy Watch has a beautiful round screen, is bright, and you can change the faces as you wish. The only problem with all watches in this category is the battery life of one day with everything open, of course... you don't pay that much to close switches. All in all, for the €200 I paid, it's a great value.
