Attention, this cable is not Slim SATA, but plain SATA.
It can only connect 2.5'' drives to the computer. It does its job perfectly fine (I bought 2 and tested them on 2-3 hard drives).
If you want to get a cable to convert an internal DVD player to an external one (for example, if you removed it from your laptop to replace it with a second hard drive), then you will need to find a Slim Sata with 13 pins.
I don't know what's up with this one. I got the first one and whenever I wanted, it worked. I threw it away, and I thought it would be defective. After months, I got the same one again and same thing happened!! I threw it away too!
Ignore ALL the IRRELEVANT people who write negative comments that it doesn't work. I have used it with a dozen 2.5" mechanical and SSD drives for upgrades of old computers that require cloning or backup of the disk with an external connection, and it works perfectly fine on USB 2.0, USB 3.0, and 3.1, which I have tested on over 10 computers and USB cards made in the last 20 years. Those who say it doesn't work are because they connect large 3.5" drives and the power from the USB port is not sufficient to power them, so it is logical that the computer does not recognize them. Not all USB ports have the same power supply. Most are only for data, not for power, and even if they provide power, it may not be enough to power a large drive. For these cases, a mobile charger of 5-15W or higher is sufficient to "feed" the external drive with the additional power it needs, but for these cases, there are OTHER cables with branching for power or cases with their own separate power supply. Do not blame the product because you do not know under what conditions it should be connected. It works just fine.
Contrary to some comments, it works for me at good speeds.
This cable obviously does not power hard drives. It is only for 2.5-inch drives that do not require additional external power, such as SSDs.
This one is referring to 2.5 hard drives and mainly for cloning and replacing a hard disk in a laptop from HDD to SSD, it is ideal.
It works great on Raspberry 4 with BerryBoot, everything is OK for now
Only works with small 2.5" SSDs and it's still slow....
Forget about CD/DVD or mechanical disks (HDD)

Guys, I have it on an SSD to use it by transferring large 4K files to watch movies on my TV. So far, it works correctly, and if anything changes, I will come back to you!

It does not work with 3.5-inch disks.
The only scenario that worked for me is a 2.5 SSD connected to a MacBook.
Unacceptable! It's a waste of money. I have tried it on three different PCs and it doesn't work on any of them. My disk cannot even be recognized! It only detects it when connected to a USB1 port, but still, it DOES NOT work. I cannot even use it from the disk management. It freezes the entire PC when it is connected. I really want my money back. It doesn't do anything it promises. If possible, I would give it a -5 rating.
The "Powertech Cable USB 3.0 to SATA" with product code CAB-U032 and description on the package "PT Cable USB 3.0 to SATA" does not work on a USB 3.0 port (I tried it on 2 laptops - neither with HDD nor with SSD). Money wasted, considering that the same cable "Powertech Cable USB 2.0 to SATA" is available at half the price. However, it does the job with USB 2.0, it's just very slow!!
I didn't expect it to work with 3.5" but it doesn't work with 2.5" either, tested on usb 1.1, 3.1 gen1, 3.1 gen2. Get one with external power supply. (I didn't try SSD, only mechanical ones)
The CAB-U032 works perfectly on USB 3.0 with excellent speeds (Max Seq Read 254MB/s & Seq Write 249MB/s) and is compatible with lower speeds on USB 2.0 (Max Seq Read 41MB/s & Seq Write 41MB/s). An exceptional product with a 3-year warranty. I use it everywhere.
It does not work on USB 3.0. I tried it on three different computers with three different drives. At least it works on USB 2.0, but it does not deserve a higher rating for that. It is supposed to be compatible with USB 3.0 and as such, it is garbage.
