We got the printer for an accounting office. When it's in safe mode and you give a print command, it takes a little longer but then it prints smoothly. Compatible ink cartridges start at 20 euros, while genuine ones are 85 euros or more. It seems very high-quality at first glance. It's a good purchase and it hasn't jammed any pages in any of the prints we've done. It's reliable.
If you are a typesetter, this is a printer for you. Very professional. Not suitable for everyday use or photos.
I have the printer for about 2 months.
Positives:
- It has an acceptable weight of about 10 kilograms.
- It goes quickly into sleep mode.
- It is completely silent when in sleep mode. It has never had a fan running, even though the room temperature is just below 30°C.
- It has fast response and printing compared to the Lexmark CS 410 that I have.
- Economical and compatible consumables, as long as you don't upgrade the factory firmware.
Negatives:
- Noisy during printing, but fortunately it finishes quickly.
- Ease of use, consumables information, screen size.
- Quite expensive for what it offers.
- Basic software for Linux, even though it is theoretically supported by the manufacturer
I print 40 - 70 pages per day.
Although it takes a while from sleep mode to print the first page (as mentioned in a previous review), the following pages come out very quickly.
I replaced a nearly 10-year-old Lexmark E360dn and the Brother is much faster.
With the prices I see for compatible toner (10.00 euros - if there is no compatibility issue), the cost of printing will be ridiculous.
I managed to buy it for 180.00 euros, but even at the current price of 200-210, it is worth buying.
We must always know the reason why we make each purchase. So, after Samsung's decision to leave the market, Brother came to take all the market share. There is no other option in terms of quality and features. The prices, due to this change, are slightly higher but not more than 10-15%, so it is a fair choice.
Now, talking about the printer itself, we are referring to a sturdy construction that you can tell is made of quality materials. The prints, although they have a delay of 2-3 seconds from the moment you give the command until it is sent to the printer (especially when it is in sleep mode, which is logical), here is the essence: once it receives the command, it is incredibly fast and without any glitches so far.
* My usage is for an insurance office, so it is daily and moderate category of printing (25-30 sheets/day)
Very good printer. Affordable in the market, almost free for compatible consumables and fast. In terms of build quality, compared to another brand with double the price, there are differences in the quality of construction in the plastics, etc. But it is definitely worth much more, the printer is not a piece of furniture.
