It was purchased in May 21 solely for storing my photos, videos, and music. It's not meant to run an operating system as an SSD is much faster. However, the file transfer speeds, temperatures, and noise left me satisfied. I had and still have several WD drives and they have all left me satisfied in terms of reliability, which was the main reason for choosing this one. Its operating hours are minimal. During a file transfer from my phone, the progress bar froze, the system froze, and the disk started making various sound effects, as if spinning and stopping. So, in the blink of an eye, it left us without any warning in our year and a half of use. As a result, I lost my little one's birthday, which I hadn't backed up yet, which would have been done immediately after the file transfer from my phone was completed. It still has a 6-month warranty, but I prefer to buy a new one rather than send the one that is full of personal data. 1 star at its value

He suddenly died after 2 years, taking all my files with him. He was my newest disk. I couldn't imagine it. I have disks from other companies that are 20 years old. I opened it to see if the heads were stuck, but no, they were parked normally. And then they would go up and down normally. I don't know what was wrong. My PC didn't even post with it. I had to hot plug it. And it died suddenly like that. Just when I was copying from Android, it started making weird noises and the motor went crazy again. We never found out what was wrong. I swear I won't buy WD again.

Power on time 217 days and it produces the sounds of the video (ignore the image, just listen).

It is still alive, but it has started experiencing I/O errors. I am expecting a HD RED Plus tomorrow to replace it.

The irony is that it has 100% Health.

Obviously, cables and voltage have already been checked.

So far, there haven't been any issues but I haven't had it for very long. I only use it for storing images and videos. It makes a sound when I search for something in explorer while idle and sometimes takes a little time to load the data, which is mainly photos. Time will tell its durability.

Purchased about 2 years ago for around €120. The price has now skyrocketed (2/2023). Besides that, it holds a lot of stuff. I've divided it into three parts and it's very comfortable for my work. Recommended for data storage. I have games in it without noticing any delays due to the disk.

In 2 months, I bought 2 blue ones. Both crashed within 1 hour of copying files. I tried to replace the first one's board with the same model but could never recover the files. I opened it up and shook the head hoping something would come loose.
I left the second one for 1 month and had the exact same RMA.
For 25 years, I always had WD blue and it never failed me...such a disappointment.
While they were working, they had good speeds, even on SATA 2 as I only used it for backups on a PC in a LAN

I got him purely for storage space, not frequent access. That's why he's perfect for what I need. He doesn't make noise, and has a decent speed. For reliability, I always have HD Sentinel on my computer, otherwise you can't catch anything...

I use Western Digital due to their reliability. Although I have heard some strange stories about Western Digital lately, for me they have been working well for at least 5 years with 24/7 use. The speed for a non-SSD disk surprised me. My Linux benchmark gave me a max of 420mb/sec. Of course, this speed is maintained for a short period of time due to the cache. Don't buy it just because you think it will give you 420mb/sec after half a minute of transferring a large file of half a terabyte. At some point, the cache fills up and speeds drop to 100mb/sec or something like that. Not bad for a magnetic disk.

For a backup disk, it's excellent. You copy your files and put it aside. It's slow for speed, but that doesn't matter to me. I wouldn't use it as a boot disk.

I use it both as storage and in combination with an SSD and caching, along with a cheap 256GB or 500GB SSD and the necessary software for Windows, you have ample capacity and very good performance, with a total cost of around 120-130 euros, 4TB Blue, SSD along with the SSD Caching software license with lifetime use on any motherboard, the Cache disk can be SATA or NVME. If you take care of your backups, you don't need a longer warranty or a more expensive disk for performance.

This review is about the capacity: 2000 GB

The disk was purchased on 15/3/21 and has a 2-year warranty. In the past few days, it has been excessively slow to access files and suddenly gave me an "i/o device error" and the data cannot be read. I tried to restore it with check disk, clean it with diskpart, but unfortunately without success. I also used a third-party partition tool without achieving anything. It was used for backup on a weekly basis. The issue is that it has a warranty, but who sends it with their personal files inside?

Unreliable, it gave up in less than 8 months.

The WD40EZAZ drive is SMR and is VERY slow even for simple storage. In the position where a WD40EZRZ gave me 110-120MB/s write, this one gives 70-80MB/s. The current price difference (about 30€) somewhat justifies the performance difference. However, if the WD40EZRZ drops below 100, it will be worth paying more for the CMR drive.

I loaded it with 3.5TB, while its (classical) total capacity was 3.6TB as is customary for 4TB drives, and in less than 2 months I was trying to empty it so that I could return it since it was getting stuck. Of course, during the transfer of the data it took 3 days since it got stuck again. Far away. Finally, the Blue series is for me.

The disk is truly amazing, everything the manufacturer claims is true. The size of 256 MB cache is real and the speeds are incredible for a mechanical disk that doesn't have enough money to spend on SSDs. For the reason that games take up space and you need storage space, and in terms of money it is unattainable, I highly recommend this disk with closed eyes. I have 3 different disks, an M2 SSD 500, an SSD SATA 500 GB Samsung EVO, and the two SSDs are not even a discussion. This HDD has the guts to compete with them. When I saw the transfer speeds of a series I have at 500 GB, my jaw dropped to the floor. Instead of taking 6 hours, it took 3 hours and the speed was constant without any drop.

I bought a used one from someone who had it on a personal server.
The review states that it has recorded 739 hours of active use.
I did not install any operating system on it, I have only used it as a multimedia/game library.
While it has okay sequential speeds, the random ones are mediocre, so don't expect to run all your games from here.
Also, even though it is 5400 rpm, it sounds as loud as my 7200 disk.
Additionally, the needle is quite audible.
In a noisy environment, you won't notice it, but in a passive cooling system, it will make a difference and may be annoying.
