I had irritations and it concerned me, so I tried other blades like Feather, Perma Sharp, Astra greens, etc. Except for Perma Sharp, which is enjoyable for the first one or two shaves, I ended up going back to Bic. It is more aggressive than Feather, but it is more durable, sharper, and shaves deeply for more shaves (not more than 4 or 5). It requires attention, does not forgive easily, and takes a few shaves for the skin to get used to it, but for me, it's worth it. Beyond that, as others have said, it's a matter of skin and razor.

They are indeed available in all supermarkets and very easy to find, but they do not cut well at all. When you want to start traditional shaving, it is good to get a blade that does not cut too much, but this specific one will pull your hair, irritate your skin, and give you a bad impression of traditional shaving (even though they are considered good for a close shave). When I started using the Gillette razor, which comes with 5 replacement blades, I decided to also try the Astor blades, which had a very good reputation, but they were disappointing when I compared them.

I am a beginner, so maybe my opinion doesn't have much value, but these razor blades are really terrifyingly sharp. The first ones I used were the feather ones, and no matter how many passes I made, I always felt something. I thought that was normal and that it could never be truly smooth, but with these blades, I changed my mind. They leave nothing behind.

Did you find this review helpful? I have been using them for many years (and almost exclusively since September 2021). Their price has increased a lot in recent months, but in the end, they are economical because they last for many shaves. They are quite aggressive (much more than Astra green or Gillette platinum) but also very sharp. In the first shave, they require some attention, but afterwards, they are more manageable. With the Edwin Jagger DE89, I can surpass 15 shaves without any pulling or irritation with 2-3 passes, which is impossible with other blades. To avoid sounding excessive, I leave the foam on my face for 2-3 minutes to soften the beard and start with a glycerin pre-shave soap from Papoutsanis. If I don't follow these two steps, all the blades stick, especially in the area below the lips to the chin, which is very tough, even in aggressive razors. With the Muhle R41, after 10-11 shaves, it starts to pull slightly. With a good lather, one blade can last me a month with daily shaving. In conclusion, the pros are: it cuts exceptionally well, lasts incredibly compared to the competition, is relatively cheap (if ordered online because in supermarkets, you can find them for 1.4-1.6€), they are widely available, and finally, they are Greek. The cons are: it is quite aggressive in the first shave if combined with an aggressive razor (Muhle R41, Gillette Fat Boy...) and it doesn't have the finesse of a Feather (which costs 2+ times more and you throw it away after 4-5 shaves). I highly recommend it to those who have tough beards, after all, I almost exclusively use this one (alternatively, I rarely use Gillette Platinum or Astra greens). Once you learn and get used to it, you won't change it. I have been using various razors and foams for 20 years, so I decided to try something new.
My first experience with Feather was disappointing, it cut like a panzer in Stalingrad. I tried Bic Astor and found my solution, it cuts the hair like butter and easily lasts for 4 shaves. I tried Feather again to see if I had done something wrong in the process, but nothing changed.

Did you find this review helpful?Bic Astor and Bic Chrome Platinum are exactly the SAME product. The only difference is that Bic Chrome Platinum is intended for sale outside of Greece. I have tried almost everything here for 30 years. I shave, except for my face and head, my body with them {torso, armpits, and groin (men do not shave their legs and arms unless they are athletes)}, once a week or every other week, please! Only when the blade is new, during the first shave, it requires a little attention. It cuts like a diamond, it lasts like tungsten carbide, and it costs pennies. A Greek company that surpasses all competitors. I hope they never compromise their quality. It lasts longer than all the others for over 4 "total" shaves for me, of course, I am not very hairy and my hair is sparse and moderate.

I mainly use them in mild razors like the King C Gillette - Rockwell 6c (plate 1-2) and the result is an amazing close shave without irritation, easily giving me 4-5 good shaves. First of all, something general about the replacement blades. A basic requirement for everyone's evaluation to have weight is - among other things - their experience in traditional shaving, the passes they usually make, and the razor in which the blade is loaded.
In this case, we are talking about one of the oldest blades on the market worldwide, a Greek product (as far as manufacturing is concerned, BIC is now of French interests as far as I know) and widely used in almost every corner of the planet.
For those who know, I dare to call them the poor man's Feather. They require respect (a lot of respect from beginners), but they will reward you with a deep and "effortless" shave.
Their quality does not reach that of the Japanese in any case (there is a possibility of encountering some faulty ones here and there), but the same applies to their price, which is unbeatable for a hundred pack.

I evaluate after 4 blades, from 3 shaves each, on 3 machines.
The blade must fit the face, but ultimately it must also fit the machine.
With the Gillette King C and a Chinese one, I got 3 good shaves for each blade. Without irritations or pulling. I have relatively soft and not very dense facial hair, so I could definitely have another shave.
On the other hand, with the Razorock 6C - 4->3 I struggled. I gave 2 chances to 2 first-use blades, but eventually I saw that the "Razorock - Astor" set doesn't fit. Many irritations and cuts. I should note that with the Green Astra blades, the Razorock fits wonderfully.
In conclusion, it is a very good blade, without pulling, without irritations, and with very good durability. Definitely 3 shaves. Therefore, it is also economical.

I have tough facial hair and shave every other day. They give me a maximum of 3 or 4 shaves, maybe even more, but I don't keep them for longer because they start to scratch a lot after the 4th shave. Besides, in traditional shaving, the trick is to lather the hair several times with warm water (not hot) before shaving to soften them (I heat water in a large pot), and then use soap and lather the hair with a brush (I use the OMEGA 10049 for many years). I make lather in a bowl with SPLANDIT powdered soap, a Greek soap that is very good. I use the razors with a WILKINSON SWORD butterfly razor or a FEATHER butterfly razor. The razors are good and I highly recommend them. I have been using them for years, although in the past few months I have switched to green Astra razors, which are even better. After 35 years of shaving with razors, I have never cut myself or had any irritations. And always, after shaving, I wipe and dry the razor and the machine with a towel, both to prevent the razor from rusting (although I have never seen any razor rusting as some say), and to prevent the machine from collecting salts from the water. And I always do one pass, never needed a second pass or more.

Full irritation, especially on sensitive skin, without cutting much. For example, Feather razors cut 2 times more and I usually have no irritation. I threw them away after the first 2-3 shaves. They didn't suit me at all or suited me the least, since I have tried most razors, I think if it's a matter of economy, okay, otherwise I would recommend another blade. If you want Bic, the chrome platinum ones are superior to these. No one should sit with a blade that irritates them every time they shave, it's ridiculous really, I'm saying this for some people.
