An "unknown", unique model from a well-known company, Bowers and Wilkins. Unique because 1) it is designed for outdoor spaces (described as an "architectural monitor", waterproof with a metallic casing and support base) and 2) it is specifically designed for wall mounting. Its construction quality is top-notch, nothing like the "professional", black, plastic speakers from other companies, while the mounting base, which also incorporates the signal cables, looks otherworldly! Only the bases could cost 300 euros per pair! The speaker itself is a gem for any space! On its back, there is a passive woofer that enhances the lows and... visibly moves when in use! The philosophy of wall mounting solves many placement issues. These particular speakers don't require any floor space or stands. The fact that they are recommended for outdoor use certainly didn't stop me from using them in my living room. And I wasn't disappointed! Their lows are more than sufficient, even lavish I dare say, for their size, with punch and good control. The highs are transparent, crisp, and smooth without being bothersome. The cymbals have a metallic tone, rarely heard in speakers of this price range. With the tone bypass activated on my amplifier, the bass and treble don't need any boost or attenuation. With other speakers I had, I couldn't achieve a flat sound. The stereo image, of course, appears shallow due to the wall mounting. The mid frequencies appear slightly compressed and not particularly sweet, like with the Klipsch RP-500m, which I had before and consider reference speakers in this category! With one difference: The highs of the Bowers and Wilkins are unbeatable, as well as the timing. With the Klipsch, you want to sit back in the armchair and enjoy! With the Bowers and Wilkins, you want to get up and dance! If you have space issues, definitely give them a listen! They will probably become your next speakers. And forever!
