High-performance Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) fans are designed to leverage the shock absorption effects of oil. They are extremely reliable and produce significantly less operational noise and heat compared to ball bearing fans. Lubrication of the bearing surface reduces friction and vibrations, thereby reducing overall power consumption. Due to the effortless, quieter rotations and robust construction, this reliable fan technology also significantly increases the fan's lifespan.
How it works
When the fan shaft rotates, high-pressure oil is transferred along the grooves of the bearing sleeve to create a thin lubrication layer between the bearing surfaces. As speed increases, the dynamic oil pressure also increases, and the shaft is lifted from the bearing to create smooth, effortless rotations. The herringbone shape of the grooves helps efficiently channel the lubricant and prevent leaks.

It was purchased because I suspected that my previous power supply could no longer handle the loads of my processor and graphics card. It would shut down whenever I played demanding games like cyberpunk or starfield, something that was confirmed as soon as the new power supply was installed. I don't know if I can say what I saw in other reviews that the computer opens or shuts down faster, but I can definitely say based on measurements from utility programs that it has more stable and accurate currents.
One of the reasons I bought it was also because Seasonic upgraded the warranty of this power supply to 12 years.
