Description

Montessori learning tower, by Woodengoods. The Learning Tower is an excellent tool that helps the child participate in everyday household tasks! With the learning tower, the educational process becomes easy as it provides the necessary height for the child to participate in tasks and interact with adults. The goal is to develop skills in areas such as cooking, dishwashing, gardening, manual labor, etc. It also learns how to serve itself as - by imitating the parent - it learns to wash its hands, put water, or brush its teeth. With the learning tower, the child learns from an early age to be independent and autonomous. It takes initiatives early, resulting in increased self-confidence and developmental progress.
The learning tower is designed according to the principles of Montessori furniture. It consists of a stable ladder and an adjustable platform in 4 levels, so that it can be adjusted according to the height and development of the child. The platform height is easily adjustable. The corners of the furniture are rounded for greater safety. It is designed to be beautiful in the home and occupy the smallest possible space. The natural materials have a smooth finish and provide easy cleaning.
Furthermore, it is mainly made of wood, a durable natural material that can match the rest of the room's furniture.

  • I will fully agree with the initial comment!
I have been using it for my little one since he was 13-14 months old. Now he is 18 months old and he tries to climb and get out of it, so it requires a lot of attention even though I have it on the top step. The child sits inside the tower, I had put a strap around it at the opening when he was smaller, but he almost fell backwards while sitting. Now it is no longer needed.

It is quite useful to have the child with you in the kitchen, participating or supervising while cooking and more.

It got scratched from the first use as the little one sometimes eats in the tower, which is understandable since it becomes a table and he will later paint and eat there. I returned it for additional water-based varnish after consulting with the manufacturer. Now it is better, although the varnish did not pass well in some areas, but it's a minor issue.

Indeed, if you have it on the top step (supposedly for a bigger child), you have to unscrew and screw the extra board that is there to make it a table. I suppose it cannot be done differently if we want multiple height levels and for it to break down into a table. As far as I searched, it is the only one that has different heights and can also be a table.

Opening the tower: according to the manufacturer, you have to tighten the internal screws at the opening to prevent it from opening during transportation, as it is dangerous when the child is inside. This does not work in my tower, so I added my own safety measure to have the option to open it whenever I want.

The ladder is too narrow for the child to go up and down comfortably.

When the tower is not in use, never leave it with the ladder exposed as the child can climb on it alone, and it is dangerous to leave them unsupervised.

Generally, when you have a young child, you can make various unnecessary purchases with money that is thrown away. The learning tower is not such a purchase.
Our learning tower has served us well, however, the price of this particular one is justified only by the fact that it is handmade and made of good wood (entirely plywood).
Otherwise, it has several design and construction improvements:
    1. It does not have any varnish, resulting in easy staining.
    2. The base for the child to stand on is quite high, so you will have to lower it very soon to prevent the child from protruding. If you lower it, you cannot use it as a table. You have to change it every time (unscrewing, screwing, etc.).
    3. The step does not have enough space to allow the child to climb up/down comfortably.
    4. There is no locking mechanism when folding the furniture, so you always have to place it tightly on a counter, and it is also inconvenient for transportation (personally, I have tied it with a tie-up and I do not have the option for a table, also due to the second point I mentioned).

Therefore, if I had to choose again, I would not choose it. I would either choose a cheaper one that simply does the job or one at the same price that would be perfect in every aspect.
