In the context of the new Open Library series, the important treatise of the great German philosopher Georg Hegel "Philosophy of Nature" is being released. The work, which constitutes the second part of the Hegelian Encyclopedia of Philosophical Sciences (1830), represents the fruit of the philosopher's magnificent attempt to interpret natural phenomena through dialectical logic, using not only and mainly a purely philosophical -a priori- conception and processing of relevant concepts, but also an empirical approach, based on experiments of the time. In this context, Hegel will study "space" and "time", "motion", "matter", "light", "air", "sound", "atom", etc. The "Philosophy of Nature" is an integral part of the Hegelian philosophical tradition and this edition can only be considered as an important publishing event and at the same time a translation challenge. The work has been translated by Stamatis Giakoumis, who has also edited an enlightening introductory essay. The edition is accompanied by a comprehensive German-Greek glossary, comments, and a bibliographic selection, which attempts to relate Hegelian natural philosophy to the data of modern science.
