If you identify with any of the above questions, then you are likely a victim of emotional abuse, a situation that is considered by many to be the most painful form of violence and one that does the most harm to people's self-esteem. It deeply wounds their soul and leaves marks that can be worse than those of physical violence. The characteristics of emotional abuse, such as insults, insinuations, criticism, and devaluation, gradually erode the victim's self-esteem to the point where they believe they are to blame for the emotional abuse.
In her book "The Signs Remain," family counselor Tenia Makri provides all the dimensions of emotional abuse: what it means, why it happens, how it manifests, and how it can be addressed. At the same time, she suggests strategies that can help readers recognize when they are being abused and effectively manage all the negative emotions they experience when they are victims of this type of behavior.
One of the main reasons this book is useful is that emotional abuse poisons relationships with hatred, aggression, and contempt. Obviously, in such a toxic environment, it is difficult not only for love to grow but even to survive. Especially for couples who are willing to stop blaming each other and start taking responsibility for their behavior, the advice in this book can make the difference between separation and saving their relationship.

One of the best self-improvement books I have ever read. It is mainly aimed at women, but the points it makes are also valid for men. It talks about emotional abuse in relationships, its roots, causes, ways of dealing with it, and how to act after realizing the situation you are in, providing hope throughout the emotional roller coaster you may go through by reading this book. Through many examples, analogies, and stories of incidents, it makes you relive events in which you have been a victim or perpetrator, understanding and explaining the mindset, events, and actions that led you to this position. (It also refers to addictions, drugs, and mental illnesses from which such behavior may arise, saying that they do not justify it and that fundamentally it is a matter of mindset that comes to the surface through them.) Finally, it advises both parties on how they can continue towards the healthy continuation of their relationship, and/or how to handle future interactions with the world after the end of this abusive relationship.
I gave it 3 stars
Warm, superficial. I had higher expectations. I bought it for my mom who wanted it. Even she, who finished elementary school, found it uninteresting
