Description

Freud's ideas about the functioning of humans in society dominated the first half of the 20th century. Today, our interest in a comprehensive understanding of his theories is rekindled, and it is noteworthy that their modern interpretation does not differ much from Freud's interpretation a century ago. Civilization and Its Discontents is one of the most widely read books of the 20th century and remains relevant to this day.

Science today discovers that the psychological theories formulated by Freud with his studies can serve to connect various socio-political extensions and the convergence of psychoanalysis with culture, sociology, ethnology, and theology. These connections are referred to in the books Civilization and Its Discontents, Totem and Taboo, Group Psychology and the Analysis of the Ego, The Future of an Illusion, Moses and Monotheism, and The "Cultural" Sexual Ethics and Modern Nervousness, as well as the two studies he wrote in 1915 in the shadow of World War I, titled Current Observations on War and Death. We must not forget his letter to Einstein titled "Why War?" and others.

As Freud emphasizes in his work Civilization and Its Discontents, the program of "Creation" does not include the intention for humans to be "happy". What we call happiness rather comes from the sudden satisfaction of accumulated needs and is, according to its nature, only possible as an episodic phenomenon.
