In the darkness of successive crises, I suddenly felt the intense need to breathe some fresh air, to be optimistic. So, I decided that it was time to revive my ideal, Didó Sotíriou. It is unfair for the older ones to gradually forget her and for the younger ones to completely ignore her. There was no one like this woman-warrior of goodness who crossed the entire 20th century, found herself at the center of every Greek tragedy (from the Asia Minor Catastrophe to the junta), and managed to step on all the ruins wearing her eternal smile, red beret, necklace, and perfume. I immediately started my research (which ultimately inspired the book Couples Who Wrote the History of Greece) and fortunately, because in the meantime Alkis Zei and Nikos Beloyannis were lost, the only survivors who knew her inside out.

I hope that I wrote a completely hybrid biography with the characteristic title I Dreamed of Didó. Because I really dreamed of her alive, tireless, and laughing, as she always was, narrating to me with the ups and downs of her wildly improbable life!
