Description

Arthur Schopenhauer, one of the greatest philosophers, wrote in the 19th century a sharp, angry, subversive yet wise, vivid, and subtly humorous essay (published posthumously) under the eloquent title "The Art of Always Being Right," which presents itself as a manual for prevailing over any opponent in a debate. "Eristic Dialectic," Schopenhauer himself wrote, thus masking any ironic tone, "is the art of disputing - and disputing in such a way that one defends one's positions adequately, whether right or wrong." And as if to assure his readers that he sincerely meant this, he added: "In a debate, we must ignore objective truth, or rather consider it as a random coincidence, and focus solely on defending our position and refuting the opponent's position." Certainly, Schopenhauer's true intention was to draw his readers' attention to the tricks commonly used by others, whether they be politicians, journalists, advertisers, or merchants. Pretending to teach "sophistry" (as he later called rhetoric), he actually taught how to recognize it and, consequently, how to counter it. This biting little work remains even today a valuable tool for this purpose.

Good manual although from a certain point onwards quite repetitive and cunning, I would say! The techniques it teaches you to win an argument from a certain point onwards are purely thefts and deceptions in a malicious way and tone!! If you are a truthful character who hates lies and deceitful arguments but loves the truth, you will not like the sophistry of this philosopher!!

Very good, although short, book. Easily understandable and with examples. However, I would like it to have more. Besides that, the only thing I criticize is the fact that from the middle onwards, it seems that many elements are repeated in variations. Otherwise, it is accurate and can literally serve as a manual. It is a pleasant read.

Excellent book, through examples and situations it helps you to show others, sometimes through targeted argumentation and sometimes through unethical techniques, that you are indeed right. It is important that it separates the ways to control the discussion into techniques with a separate example for each, which makes reading easier and enjoyable.

Short and concise book. It gives you exactly what you need to know without any frills.
