Description

Extreme universal threat leads to global governance.
It started with rumors from China about the spread of yet another epidemic. Then the cases began to increase, and what initially seemed like an outbreak of criminal activity, or perhaps the beginning of a revolution, soon proved to be something much, much worse. Faced with a mindless, flesh-eating horde, humanity was forced to embrace the logic of global governance and accept events that threatened both our mental health and our very future on planet Earth.

Based on extensive interviews with survivors and key figures of the ten-year, literally global conflict, the book you hold in your hands is the only chronicle so far of this terrifying period. From the now infamous village of New Dachang in the Chinese Confederation to the Battle of Yonkers in the USA, and from the Redeker Plan of the United States of South Africa to the Honolulu Conference, Max Brooks collects unique personal testimonies from around the world and reveals to us the scale and horror of World War Z.

Testimonies from World War Z

"I found 'Patient Zero' behind the locked door of an abandoned house. He was twelve years old. He was writhing like an animal, and muffled groans came from his gagged mouth. His skin was cold and gray. I couldn't find any heartbeat or pulse..."
Kwang Jingshu, Chinese Confederation

"'Shock and awe'? What happens when you can't inflict either shock or awe on the enemy? When such a thing is biologically impossible? That's what happened that day outside New York, that's what almost cost us the war. They don't fear! No matter what we do, no matter how many we kill, they will never be afraid!"
Todd Wainio, US Army veteran

"Two hundred million zombies. Who can comprehend that number, let alone fight it? For the first time in history, we faced an enemy that truly waged total war. They would not negotiate, they would never surrender. They would fight to the end, for each one of them was completely dedicated to devouring every last trace of life on Earth."
General D'Ambrosia, Commander of Allied Forces, Europe

Unbelievable book. I read it years ago and still remember it. If you like zombies and the whole apocalypse phase, it's worth it. No relation to the movie. Here we essentially talk about a historical book. It's about a reporter who simply interviews people before, during, and after the outbreak of zombies. 10 stars out of 5 from me
