Awareness of the issues that affect the fundamental functions of social and political (in the narrow sense) life is a necessary condition for theoretical assessments, conscious decisions, and proactive initiatives that concern the present and future of life as a whole. This cognitive necessity is met, as far as possible, by the exploration of the topics included in this volume.
