Description

The book is the result of the effort to collect, process, and edit university exercises in Astronomy-Astrophysics that were taught in the Department of Physics at A.P.Th. in previous years. These exercises cover all the units of the corresponding course in the 5th semester of the department's study program.
The purpose of this project is to provide assistance to students of Physics (and related departments) and any interested reader in interpreting and understanding astronomical-astrophysical phenomena.
The book is divided into chapters-sections based on the university textbook by X. Varvogli and I.X. Seiradakis "Introduction to Modern Astronomy", while the material of Astrophysics is mainly covered by Frank H. Shu's book "Astrophysics: Structure and Evolution of the Universe" (I and II). Warm thanks to our dear professors in the field of Astronomy-Astrophysics, Charalambos Varvoglis, Ioannis-Xiou Seiradakis (who unfortunately is no longer with us today), Stavros Augoloupis, and Loukas Vlachos, who as teachers are behind this project, as well as to our younger colleagues Dimitris Sapalidis, Lazaros Pelekas, and Nikos Koutsopoulos who carefully reviewed the initial text.
