It has nothing to do with what is sold in supermarkets that fall apart in less than a year (I've had it cut with the laundry hanging falling from the 3rd floor to the 1st). I use it on an outdoor balcony clothesline that is exposed to sun, rain, etc. It is sturdy and thick but at the same time flexible and easy to install.
