Description

For the first time in Greece, directly from the original Chinese text, we have the edition of one of the most important texts of Chinese culture. The "Analects" are indeed considered, by the most prominent sinologists, the fundamental text of Chinese literature, as for over two thousand years, for the literati of China but also for the millions of ordinary people, it has been the moral code, the source of their spirituality.

The "Analects" also constitute the unique source of authentic information about the life and work of Confucius (551-479 BC), the man who was completely identified with the culture of China, but also of the Far East in general, to the point where he is considered its founder and main exponent.
Sotiris Halikias faced a titanic work, and this is evident in every line of his work. Devoting at least two decades to unraveling this specific text, but also to Chinese studies in general, he essentially rewrote Confucian thought in Greek. However, what constitutes his most essential contribution is an extensive presentation of the fundamental concepts of Confucius' teachings through the semantic analysis of the corresponding ideograms, without which one cannot understand that this thought can be embraced and which can be considered exemplary, setting a high standard for any similar future endeavor.
