Of course, there is plenty of room for improvement. Currently, as of 01/2023, it is the best in terms of quality-price ratio.
It concerns the Samsung watch 4 classic with eSim.
Starting off, the HUAWEI mobile does not recognize it (it displays a message that it is not compatible) and a Samsung mobile is needed for it to work, where it connects immediately.
First, you buy a watch up Cosmote and the next day they give you an extra eSim with an additional charge (another 10€).
Officially, no one tells you that it will work or rather they say that the eSim will not work. I will tell you in the end if it will work.
In the end, the eSim does NOT WORK autonomously, until today 4.10.22, due to lack of support from mobile phone companies.
Additionally, its battery is terrible, it doesn't even last a day, with all the watch's functions activated.
And the two stars that I gave it, seem excessive to me!
Beautiful and durable watch. Instant connection with the mobile phone and transfer of all data to the watch. The screen resolution is excellent and the functions are countless. With 100 euros less than the Samsung 6, which has more or less the same capabilities but with a 3" smaller screen, it is definitely a very good choice. The size is just right. Now, as for the battery, the manufacturer says it... 40 hours and somewhere around that it actually lasts, you can't evaluate it negatively! If you want, get a Huawei for 500 euros plus to have it for 1 week without charging!
First contact your mobile provider to ask if it supports eSIM for this specific model!
I have used it for less than a month, so I don't have a complete opinion. Overall, it seems reliable (I tested it even in swimming) with two problems: 1- the battery drains very quickly, even if you have it in battery saving mode, 2- some functions such as pressure measurement and others are only executed if it is connected to a Samsung mobile.
It is a very pleasant experience compared to other watches, it has very good functions, I managed to add with patents messenger and other applications for mobile/tablet apk, which I made sure not to run permanently so as not to consume the minimal battery it has. The battery size is extremely small for the capabilities it offers and this has made me wear it occasionally because it needs to be charged so often that I forget about it. Also, I don't use it as an Android, as I wanted, because I'm afraid of the battery. It reminds me of Android phones from 2014. You will tell me, after all, it is still the beginning of smartwatches, so maybe they will go through a similar cycle as smartphones. The only thing for sure is that the battery issue made me distance myself from the watch and now it is useless to me. If you asked me "would you buy it again?" I would say "no".
Owner of s3 frontier since 2017, I decided to get the new one in case it has a better battery and additional features since it runs on Android, unlike the other one that had Tizen..... I got the LTE version instead of the regular Wi-Fi one with the intention of maybe using an eSIM. Unfortunately, in Greece, they are terrible when it comes to the issue of a second sim. As a watch, it is very nice, comfortable on the wrist, user-friendly, with a nice design, plenty of applications. It has better sleeping and activity tracking than the old one (which is logical), but unfortunately, its battery is very inadequate. If you have it without battery saving mode with gestures to turn on the screen whenever you lift your wrist, it lasts for a day of use, barely lasting if you also use the activity tracker. To last for 2 days, you have to have it in battery saving mode, with flight mode and only Bluetooth. Disappointing, considering that the old one had a better battery after 5 years of continuous use.
I will tell you some things that no one mentions, of course, including the description.
1. Electrocardiogram and blood pressure measurement only work on Samsung phones. If you have a different brand of mobile phone, you will need to patent and, of course, download questionable origin applications to make them work together.
2. YouTube only works if you have a premium account.
3. Even in flight mode, the battery lasts no more than 1-1.5 days.
4. The watch overheats REGULARLY and shuts down (enters emergency mode) to cool down for 5-10 minutes. Without talking, without sending messages, without using applications, just wearing it on my wrist.
5. Compared to the Huawei GT2 that I have, which has a battery life of 1 week, the charging is very slow and it does not have many free skins for the watch face. Most of them are paid.
6. Spotify works fine but only finds the recently listened songs (on the watch or mobile) and the songs you have downloaded in the library. IT DOES NOT HAVE SEARCH FOR SONGS OR PLAYLISTS.
It concerns the silver 46 with E-sim.
Positive:
Perhaps the best screen on the market. Incredibly vibrant colors that you enjoy seeing. Truly impressive and clear.
In outdoor daylight, it automatically emits extra hidden brightness from the sleeve, and you can still see clearly and vividly without guessing. All of this, combined with the fluid animation of the menus, is a very pleasant visual experience that never tires the eye. Fully customizable, of course.
Those who have had Wear OS know its capabilities compared to other watches. For those who have never had it, this is the milestone. It's like a small mobile phone. Notifications that you can see, for example, images, and you can respond. Emails that you can fully read, not just "you have an email." It shows you all the SMS messages on your phone, downloading apps for the watch, etc. In general, it is the mirror of your phone on your wrist. The definition of a smartwatch. You can even download a browser and play YouTube videos with sound!
Payments with NFC after setting up Google Pay.
It measures body composition (fat, muscle, water, etc.), pulse, snoring, blood pressure (requires calibration with a regular blood pressure monitor), ECG, and detects arrhythmias. All of these can be seen in detail on your phone and saved, etc.
The sound from the built-in speaker is satisfactory and clear. Nothing special, of course. The bezel rotates and adjusts the volume, and you can navigate through the menus, etc.
Regarding the ESIM, it seems to be easily set up through the Galaxy Wearable app and the QR code provided by the provider. I haven't tried it yet. As for simple calls, Bluetooth and remote calls from the watch work normally, like a regular Bluetooth watch (you can answer and talk, etc).
Negative:
Now let's go to the negatives. The elephant in the room: the battery. Some of you already know about it. It's small to non-existent. It can ruin everything mentioned above. Wear OS has been around for so many years, and this issue hasn't been fixed. Maybe it can't be fixed, just like with mobile phones. It's the only major drawback and reason to go elsewhere. If you use it intensively and play with it a little more, it can consume 50% in 5 hours. Otherwise, if you charge it to 100% in the morning, it will be at 35% late in the evening. Just like a mobile phone. However, you overlook it if you value all the other good things about Wear OS. Some people now use power-saving mode, adjust screen settings to be darker, and it can last for 1.5 days, but I don't think it's worth it. You'll just have to charge it every night. Or you can give it a little charge in the afternoon to get through the night. Charge it again in the morning. That's life with Wear OS. However, it does teach you to "manage character" so that it doesn't drain quickly. But only to a certain extent!
The second negative is that it charges extremely slowly. Very, very slowly. It takes at least 1.5 hours for 100%, maybe even more. Unacceptable for the 360mAh battery it has and the nature of the watch. It should at least fully charge in half an hour.
These two easily take away 2 stars, as the autonomy of the competition, for example, Huawei, is over 1 week.
The third negative is the straps it takes. Besides being a rare size of 20mm (while the Watch 4 44mm has 22mm), they don't rotate at the clasp but are rigid due to their shape, leaving gaps on the wrist as if you were Saint Onuphrius with a watch. You have to tighten it a lot to get the basics, and it becomes uncomfortable afterward.
Somewhere here, I should note that 46mm is not the screen size but the external casing. The screen is somewhere around 34-35mm.
Exactly. Beautiful, complete, full experience of a smartwatch, but if you want a watch to see who is calling you when you are on your motorcycle or in the car and to track your steps, just look elsewhere. A simple band is enough for you. If you want the rest and have a little masochism, here you are. You won't wear anything else. And if you do, you will return to Wear OS like me.
At this price of €179, take it.
It also has the option with e-sim which I haven't activated yet.
It works great in connection with Samsung phone, while its battery is satisfactory. Don't expect 10 days of autonomy, but if you don't abuse it, it lasts for two days.
For its price, it is excellent. I wonder why it is so cheap, compared to similar models without the e-sim option being more expensive.
After several months of use, the watch is incredible. I had the watch 2 classic 46mm, which is much more beautiful. It has very high accuracy in measurements compared to the previous one, which was terrible. The software and screen are much better. The battery easily lasts one and a half days with moderate use. Personally, I charge it every afternoon when I take a shower, from 50% to 80-85%, and then put it back on.
As for the negatives regarding this e-sim version, I bought it with the intention of using the same SIM card that I have in my phone, but later I discovered that no company in Greece has the ability to provide a dual SIM with one being an e-sim. Of course, it's not the watch's fault, but it was disappointing. So, I use it as a Bluetooth device. If I were to buy it again, I would choose the Bluetooth version since it is cheaper
There are many reviews for the Bluetooth version of the watch, and the LTE version does not differ in terms of the basic functions that the watch offers. Although it is not officially introduced by Samsung Greece, by activating eSIM on the Cosmote network, it works properly (perhaps I was lucky because no one can guarantee that it will work on a Greek network).
Attention, if you choose the LTE version and do not use it with eSIM, you should know that the remote call/notification function (supported by Samsung mobiles) does not work. This function is only available in the Bluetooth version.
