The main purpose of the book is to prove that in the language course, what applies to other subjects also applies: the curriculum is defined (summary, text and paragraph organization, text language, text varieties), which is directly related to the written test (summary, answers to questions regarding the content, organization, and language of the original text, production of persuasive texts).

Therefore, in each unit, the relationship between the taught theory and its practical application in all stages of the written test is emphasized. In this way, students understand that they are learning something specific, not only to answer theory questions but to understand the original text and compose their own texts (summary, comprehension question, essay). This work is the product of a combination of long-term field research and the study of linguistic theories concerning language varieties and text varieties, with structural-functional grammar, the communicative function of language, text-centered and direct language teaching.
