This book attempts to shed light on the scene of Gethsemane in all its aspects. But why should we return to the night of Gethsemane? Primarily, why should a psychoanalyst do this? The answer for me is clear: Because, through this scene, the biblical text speaks about man in a radical way, touches the essence of human condition, the condition "without God", the fragility of man, his lack, his anguish. Are not the wounds of abandonment and betrayal, the wound of inevitable death, the deepest wounds that one is called to endure?
