Anyone who cannot explain difficult concepts in simple terms to young people simply does not understand them well enough themselves. This book strives to present a narrative about the economy that the author's daughter would not find boring and which, at the same time, would explain two things... how our modern world came to be and why economists' theories are part of the problems - and not the solutions - that this world generates. It poses, and answers, provocative questions such as:
Although it does not focus on the Greek daily life of recent, sorrowful years, the book addresses the major issues of social economy that touch all people, everywhere, but in a way that someone can use to see the recent collapse of the Greek economy from a different perspective, as well as the reasons why those in power stubbornly refuse to make the decisions that would bring redemption to our societies in Europe, in Greece, in the whole world.

The author is generally vague and in many points loses his train of thought and jumps from one topic to another. Nice stories and historical references. Light and good for an introduction to basic concepts but at a very high level, don't expect technical terms, etc. Which is also expected of course since it is written for someone who has not studied economics.
Very well written, in a way that keeps your interest and doesn't tire you. I finished it in a weekend! I learned a lot of new things about how capitalism works, but the most important thing is that I better understood some concepts that I had heard about here and there. I really liked the references to artistic works and the absence of economic terminology. I highly recommend it without reservation!
Extremely interesting book, especially considering its subject matter which generally was never among my choices. I was genuinely thrilled. It's worth it!
It helped me understand how the economic circuit and the economic establishment work. I consider this particular book a must-read for anyone interested in studying Economics. At the same time, I highly recommend the continuation of this book, "Another Now," published in 2021 by the author, for an alternative world after the economic crash of 2008.
