Author Maria Foskolou positively surprised me. Her pen has power, truth, and she knows how to narrate without boring. Even when dealing with difficult social issues, such as child abuse, she knows how to describe difficult scenes and immerse you in them, making you take an active role, feeling the pain and every emotion. The images she created made me feel like I was transported to that time and inside the protagonist, Panagiota. I felt her deeply, and this is important for an author to be able to do. When a book manages to draw you into a whirlwind of emotions, making you angry, laugh, rejoice, but most importantly, cry, then the author has that something that not many have. A book that flowed effortlessly, I didn't want to let go of it, I had anxiety until the last page about how it would end, if there would be justice and happiness for a tormented soul. Can a child, when subjected to all kinds of abuse, leave it all behind and rise to live? Start from scratch? Will Panagiota find the strength and maturity to piece together her own puzzle with that of Loukas, a love so strong that it even shatters the pain of the soul? Within the pages, you will find answers you never imagined, many times you think that resignation will come. When life is divided into two puzzle pieces, do you have the mental strength to persist, to endure until these two pieces become one? For me, one of the best books of the year by an author who has a diamond pen.
