Description

The present study examines an important problem that concerns today the journalistic, political and academic world internationally: fake news, which, however, distinguishes from false news. Although such news has been encountered since the beginnings of the press, nowadays they constitute a complex communication, political and economic phenomenon. It is observed in the "information societies", in which the (new) Media and news dominate, when events are no longer presented from the perspective of certain opinions, as is fitting in journalism, but opinions are presented in the form of events, as is fitting in propaganda. In these societies, political propaganda, advertising, proselytism, and other forms of propagandistic discourse are dressed in perhaps the most popular form of information, in order to prevail.

This transformation of the structure of news occurs when significant changes take place in the social environment, such as the emergence of a new mode of communication, the transition from class-centric to cultural ideologies, the prevalence of hybrid narrative forms in news, the intensification of political polarization internationally and internally, and the neoliberal dictatorship of clicks (commodification and competition) in the field of information.
