FreeCAD is a parametric design software that is offered for free, even for commercial use. This book provides a general overview of the program's capabilities in a variety of topics, such as 2D design, 3D design, mechanical design, architectural design, etc. It is not exhaustive, but it provides the foundations and directions for someone who wants to delve deeper. 

The various topics are presented through specific examples of increasing difficulty, starting from simple 2D drawings and reaching motion in three-dimensional space. The examples are solved step by step and with many explanations, so that the new designer not only learns what to do, but also why they do it.

The book was written for a specific version of FreeCAD, but the workflow and examples were carefully chosen so that the presented methodology can be applied to future versions of the program. In fact, the same methodology (2D design - 3D object - Assembly - Object interaction - Motion) is applied to all modern parametric design software, possibly with different names in the commands, but always with the same philosophy.

Therefore, the use of this book does not limit the new designer to the use of FreeCAD. On the contrary, it gives them the opportunity to acquire the basic knowledge of parametric design without any financial risk - since FreeCAD is free - and then expand into more advanced techniques, either with FreeCAD or with other software.
