"I have been writing and illustrating children's books since I graduated from art school, but I had never thought of painting something for adults until I had my own children. I didn't want all those hilarious and beautiful moments of their childhood to be lost as if the wind took them away. I felt that the only way to capture them was through hurried sketches, something like a picture diary, if you will. These sketches were mostly done very early in the morning, with a coffee in hand, my sketchbook on my lap, and the boys climbing on me and "borrowing" my pencils.
I hope that, besides the complete exhaustion and the absolute chaos that characterize motherhood, I managed to depict a part of the magic of this whole period."
