Capture your top moments with Sony's a7 III, featuring a new back-illuminated full-frame CMOS sensor and other advanced imaging innovations, high-speed response, easy handling, and reliable durability for various shooting needs.
The new image sensor with back-illumination and the advanced image processing system cover various shooting needs with high-quality display capabilities that you would only expect from a full-frame camera.
The new version of the 24.2 megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor features a back-illuminated structure, combined with the latest BIONZ X image processing system and front-end LSI, and this combination achieves double the data readout speed and 1.8 times higher data processing capability.
The typical ISO range has been expanded to ISO 100-51200 (expandable to ISO 50-204800 for still images), while the enhanced detail reproduction and noise reduction maintain the details without the noise. Thanks to the performance at medium-high sensitivity, you can take shots with high ISO without noise and image degradation.
The dynamic range of up to approximately 15 stops in low sensitivity settings is achieved by the customized sensor and CMOS image processor that provide smooth gradations from shadow to light, for greater freedom and creativity.
The color reproduction is significantly improved, with more natural colors for subjects, closer to their real colors. As a result, skin tones in portraits, the blue sky in landscapes, and vibrant shades in still images look much more realistic.
The latest high-precision stabilization uses unit and gyroscopic sensors and algorithms for a shutter speed advantage of 5.0 steps, compensating for five types of instability with a wide range of lenses and exceptional performance.
For smoother, more natural gradation, the BIONZ X image processor and front-end LSI process image signals in 16-bit. It also allows for outputting data in 14-bit RAW, even in silent or continuous shooting mode.
The AF performance is improved through the use of the same innovations as in the a9 and their optimal application, and since the a7 III will capture moving subjects that move unexpectedly, such as dancers, boxers, and wildlife in action, they do not easily escape it.
This camera features 693 phase-detection AF points, covering approximately 93% of the image area, as well as 425 densely positioned contrast-detection AF points to improve focus.
With phase detection AF on the focal plane for exceptional speed and tracking, along with high-precision contrast detection AF, Sony's advanced fast hybrid AF quickly captures moving subjects in high resolution with 2x AF speed.
The AF performance derived from the a9 provides improved accuracy for continuous shooting or fast action AF tracking. Thanks to the faster sensor readout, it is possible to track complex movements and predict sudden movements with precision, in order to capture the most important moments.
The advanced AF algorithms contribute to high-precision AF, even in low light conditions up to EV-3, for more reliable AF in dark scenes.
With the a7 III, Eye AF can now be used with AF-C mode, for fast, effective eye detection/tracking. Maintaining optimal focus on moving subjects easily transforms your portraits.
Even with your gaze downwards
Even in partially hidden face
Even with backlighting
In addition to the new ability to capture stunning 4K videos with higher frame rates, the camera features a new HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) image profile that supports direct HDR workflow.
Reading all pixels without clustering in full-frame 35 mm mode condenses the data by 2.4 times for 4K movies (QFHD: 3840 x 2160), without moiré and irregular outlines. Choose full-frame or Super 35 mm accordingly. Additionally, 4K recording uses XAVC S format with bit rates up to 100.

The camera is value for money for both professional and amateur use. Although the menu is complex, it becomes familiar with practice. The autofocus is instant and fast without facing any issues even in low lighting conditions. The battery is greatly improved compared to Sony's previous models. Its full-frame sensor has a very good dynamic range. Perhaps the electronic viewfinder may pose a challenge for some, but it still does its job.
I started with a simple Canon G7X, then moved on to a Nikon D5300, followed by a Sony A6300, and now I am the owner of the A7 Mark III. The main use of the camera is photography, but I also do small spots with the help of the Gimbal. The difference from the A6300 to the A7 in many aspects is incredible, such as:
1. It has 2 cards for backup (I learned it the hard way)
2. Full Frame with higher resolution in the frame
3. Type-C which also supports charging
4. I like that it has a separate slot for SD cards and another for the battery
5. Better grip, it feels better than having a Crop Mirroless
6. Body stabilization
7. Three wheels for ISO settings, etc.
8. Custom buttons to assign any function you want
The only drawback for some people is the menu, which coming from all the menus in cameras is really the most complex. However, it is not difficult to understand it as some people write. If you learn it, you won't have a problem.
For the money, it's perfect. I use it exclusively for videos and the only serious problem I encountered is that it has the worst stabilizer!!!
I've been working here for 3 months.. I'll say this and it says it all: "it's faster than its own shadow."
Amazing video and flawless photos with fast focus.. My KIT is Sony a7 Mark III (24-105mm f/4G OSS).
There's not much to say about this camera.. Its features and performance speak for themselves, especially when we're talking about a Hybrid Full Frame Mirrorless Camera for 4k Video (no crop) and Photography under 2000€.
If you're considering buying it in 2020, take a look at the video I made for it:

I really recommend it to anyone interested in a mirrorless Full Frame camera. The only negative thing I can say is that it has expensive lenses (native), but there are definitely third-party alternatives that have nothing to envy from the original ones. As for the positives, the autofocus system is truly one of the fastest on the planet, the colors are accurate and close to what the human eye sees, the battery life is quite long compared to the competition, and the ability to take low light photos or videos simply cannot be compared to anything else. Perhaps one of the best choices for an entry-level mirrorless Full Frame camera, suitable for amateur to highly professional use.
Change the way I take photos for the better. From the a6000 I had, it's on another level. For me, it's the perfect camera.
The best for its money. The dynamic range is simply incredible, as well as the ISO in low light. I take photos with 80K ISO and the photos, after denoise, look like they belong in a magazine, unlike if I did the same with the new cameras at 61 pixels... 24Mgp vs 40 & 60, it's the best, you save space and time in editing!!! I have no words...
Amazing camera. In the video, you can capture fantastic shots at 120 fps in 1080p. Combine it with a Zeiss lens and you won't be disappointed. I also use it for live streams and the image quality is fantastic! It's worth the money. The only thing that bothers me is that the screen doesn't flip out for selfie shots.
I bought it a few days ago coming from the a7ii, it is the best all-around camera that exists, the best ISO, incredible dynamic range, the best autofocus in photography, the eye-af is ridiculously fast, bigger battery, two memory cards, touch screen, incredible video, honestly the most valuable full frame camera, and the funny thing is that they market it as entry level when it is the most professional thing.
Very powerful camera! Sony has improved in everything it was lacking for so long, such as battery, focus, etc... I believe it is the best choice for the money, especially for videos, but also for photos
It has everything one needs in a perfect body...
Top simply, for professional and amateur use.
Awesome kit ideal for multiple shots
Very good camera for both photography and video.
