[...] The book is divided into three parts:

In the first part, we try to introduce the student to the subject of Interval Analysis in such a way that they acquire a spherical image of the object they are going to deal with from the beginning, which we consider very important. For this reason, we give the stamp of Interval Analysis within the field of Computational Mathematics and present basic elements of the new methodology from the beginning, through appropriately selected topics, which are extensively presented in the following parts of the book. The presentation of these topics is done in a descriptive way, with the help of diagrams, for a first familiarization with the subject.

The second part consists of 7 chapters. In these chapters, the introductory concepts necessary for the foundation of the new interval methods are defined, which are developed in the third part of the book.

The third and final part of the book is the most important and consists of 4 chapters. In these chapters, the most fundamental interval methods concerning the solution of linear systems, a nonlinear equation, a system of nonlinear equations, and finally the solution of the problem of global optimization are developed and studied.

In addition, at the end of the book, there is an appendix concerning the computational package of Matlab, as it was deemed appropriate to bring the subject to the level of applications. There, brief instructions for using Matlab are given, so that even the beginner student can participate. Brief instructions are also given for the installation and use of Intlab, which is a Matlab toolbox necessary for the application of interval arithmetic. Simple applications of interval analysis using Matlab were deemed appropriate not to be recorded in the appendix, but to be incorporated into the general part of the book for educational purposes.
