Description

This book is a contribution to the celebration of the auspicious completion of 200 years since the proclamation of our national existence and independence. It shows that the Greek experience of civil conflicts related to national integration is simply one case among many others, governed by the same general law. Every nation goes through a process called "national integration". It usually involves its liberation from a "foreign" yoke and its unification within the framework of an independent nation-state. But this process inevitably entails conflict and confrontation - a clash of ideas, as well as a clash of interests. Ultimately, similar to the two-faced god Janus, the other side of national integration is, in terms of law, the civil conflict between fellow countrymen - sometimes with self-destructive results, as happened most recently in 1974.
