The Sonoff DW2 – WiFi is a sensor with a sensor, which provides greater security for the apartment against burglary. The sensor sends a notification to the phone every time a door/window is opened or closed. Take care of your security and enjoy peace of mind in your apartment.

Its connection is easy.
You insert 2 AAA batteries (not included in the package), activate the bluetooth on your mobile phone (or tablet) and open the eWeLink application. If you already have it, okay, if not you will have to download it. Then you press "+" to add a new device.
The connection is made through the "Pair with Bluetooth" option. Once you select it, with a toothpick or a small clip like the ones used to open sim card slots on mobile phones, you press the connection button located on the front of the device for 5-6 seconds.
The device's indicator light will start flashing, indicating that it is in pairing mode. Then you simply follow the steps provided by the application. It will search for the sensor's bluetooth and then ask you to connect it to your Wi-Fi. In other words, you need to enter the name and password of your router.
That's it...
The package includes two pieces of double-sided tape for installation. You need to be careful when choosing the placement point, ensuring that the two parts come into good contact.
We are talking about a simple and affordable sensor that does its job. It can send notifications when the door is opened or closed, wherever you indicate. The notification I receive through eWeLink is almost instantaneous. Additionally, through eWeLink or Alexa (I mention these because I use them), it allows you to combine the opening and closing with various other scenarios.
For example, when the door opens, it can permanently or temporarily activate a light, an alarm, or any other "smart" device you want, as long as everything is connected to the same platform.
Honest purchase that delivers on its promises...
**Edit one year later:
After one year, I received a message to replace the batteries. When I removed the old ones, the settings were lost, so the device needed to be set up again. The setup was easy and immediate, but this time I had some trouble with the notifications as they were not coming through. I had to delete the device from the application and reinstall it 2-3 times until I started receiving updates about the open/closed status of the door where I had placed the device.
This does not change anything in the review or the rating. One year later, the sensor's functionality remains flawless...
They work fine, but... The wifi needs to be 2.4, support 802.1/b (legacy devices), and the ssid/password should only consist of letters or numbers. That's the only way it works (I searched on many forums, etc.). Also, the battery lasts very little. In 3 weeks, the main door needed to be changed, with 5-8 openings per day.
I don't know about battery life. Time will tell. On the negative side, there is a small delay in status change notification. The biggest problem is that it only supports 802.11b (WiFi from 1999 with 11 Mb/s). Modern routers no longer support it. It is obsolete!
It does what it promises, very easy installation and connection to the existing WiFi network without any disconnection issues. It functions as a standalone unit and does not necessarily need to be part of a larger ecosystem. It is small, discreet, and easy to install with double-sided adhesive. It works with the eWeLink app, through which you can see the battery status (not in percentage), you can turn it on and off, and you can also see the current status if you have more than one. It also keeps a log of when it was activated.
The update of the open or closed contact on the mobile happens almost instantly, specifically within 2-3 seconds.
It takes two AA batteries, which are easily replaceable, and the only negative thing I found is that because I use rechargeable batteries, they run out approximately every 1.5 months, and of course, there is a notification for low battery level. I believe that with alkaline batteries, which are at 1.5v and not 1.2v like rechargeable ones, the duration will be relatively longer. I would definitely buy it again.
1+ Year of use
At first, it worked perfectly and with the trigger on the Echo Dot to announce when the door opens and closes, but after a while, the batteries would drain immediately and it would malfunction.
It's a shame because it could be a must-have for any home considering its price
Waste of money, it constantly disconnects and doesn't send notifications. I have four, one of them is currently connected.
Update 7/7/2024: Both sensors were working fine after I made the change in the settings of my Cosmote router last year, which I describe below. However, two weeks ago, suddenly, both sensors stopped communicating with the Cosmote router at the same time, even though I repeated the process I described below last year, and even though I reset the router settings and then reconfigured it. Nothing worked. The sensors are completely useless to me now. I tried them in another house, and they were able to connect immediately to the house's network, which was not from a Cosmote router. It's a shame because they worked well while they were functioning. Below, I leave the process I wrote last year, in case it can be useful to someone. For me, it's now useless.
Process from last year: I installed one sensor on a window and one on a door, and I also installed the eWeLink application on my mobile phone, but I couldn't connect the sensor to my home's wifi no matter what, even though I followed the instructions from the sensor's manual and even though I had Bluetooth and GPS enabled on my phone. At home, I have the new black Cosmote router, Sercomm Speedport plus 2. However, I read the relevant comments and the need for it to support 802.1/b, and I understood that I had to change something in the router settings. So, I downloaded the router's manual and, according to its instructions, I accessed the router's page at http://192.168.1.1 and logged in with the codes listed on my router's base, always being next to my router and connected to its wifi.
From this page, I accessed the settings of the 2.4 GHz wifi, and there I selected, not the default option, but 802.1/b. After saving the settings on the router's page, the sensor on the window was able to connect to the home's wifi through the eWeLink application. With this change in my router's settings, I didn't see any impact, neither on the internet speed nor on the connection of my other connected devices.
Good, it doesn't freeze, works quite reliably.
The only downside is that through the internet, if you're not at home, the notifications are delayed (and sometimes half an hour).
I have installed 6 or more on a deco system with excellent coverage.
1) Several unnecessary disconnections in some cases, more than others... not reliable here.
2) Batteries: regular AAA batteries are consumed in 3-4 months. I will try alkaline and rechargeable batteries.
I will also look into the issue with the channels, although it is an acceptable behavior...
After about 2 years of use, I have to say that it does its job perfectly. Battery replacement is needed approximately every six months. Sometimes it takes a while to respond (10-15 sec), but I suspect it's due to the router, as it is provided by the service provider. Also, due to the heat in the summer, the double-sided tape softens, and the battery compartment slides as if it's heavier, resulting in it entering the on mode. That's where it requires a little attention..
As others have mentioned, the connection is frequently lost and you have to reconnect with the application from the beginning. It's better to go for something more reliable.
Immediate response from the ewelink app.
It takes 1-2 sec to give the command to run a routine through Alexa.
When connected to wifi, I notice a decrease in speed on the 2.4 GHz from around 70 mbps to 2-3.
I don't know if it happens to others or if it concerns the 802.11b protocol.
Based on the above, I do not recommend it.
I also read about disconnections, but for me, it was flawless with no disconnections.
For 2 days it worked great! Then it started losing connection with the router. I changed the batteries, I changed its position, but still nothing. You make the connection and after 2 hours it gets lost
I would also like to add my experience.
Initially, when I had connected them to the Cosmote router, I also had constant disconnections and they even affected my wifi connection (excellent on wifi, etc., while the wired connection was fine).
For home cinema purposes, I had to purchase the Ubiquiti UAP-AC-LR access point and when I connected them to it (a total of 5 traps), I completely stopped having any issues. A year later, I didn't have a single disconnection, so I believe that MIMO technology in wifi plays a big role, as well as a good access point, in order to have good connectivity with all devices, especially if you have many devices at home.
In conclusion, in my case, the problems were solved when I upgraded the access point.
WARNING!!! As another user mentioned, the Wifi only recognizes the 2.4ghz frequency and only 802.1.1b. Otherwise, it does not connect.
After two weeks of use, as other users have mentioned, it disconnects daily and you have to remove and reinsert the batteries to reconnect.
EDIT: After one month of using it with a different router, it works fine.
Very easy to connect to Wi-Fi and with instant notifications. But it has a serious problem. It disconnects on its own. I have three of them and every 3 to 5 days, one or the other or sometimes all of them stop working. From working normally, they suddenly go offline and you have to restart them or the router for them to work again. Something that is not easy to do every now and then. I would not recommend it.
P.S.
To preempt you, I have them in close proximity to the router and none of my other Sonoff devices have this issue, only these ones.
4 such sensors were purchased. Initially, there were disconnection issues, but they were probably overcome when I changed the router's channel from auto to a specific number. Additionally, the repeater's network was also separated.
So far, it has been 10 days and I haven't had any problems.
Finally, after 12 days, it disconnected again and now it takes a whole day to be activated.
As of 13/3/2023, an old technology router is required, only supporting 2.4GHz and the option of 802.1.1b.
Unacceptable device for this company. Not for its functionality, but for its power supply with 2 AAA batteries. After about 40 days, it needs battery replacement. I was forced to use an external CR123 battery.
I have had it for 5 months and it works quite well. I haven't changed the batteries yet and its level is from 3.1 V to 2.75 V
Very easy to connect, immediate response, I bought 6 pieces and none had any issues, neither with the batteries nor with disconnections, maybe there was a defective batch for what other users write.
I have 20 of these at home and I don't think it's a coincidence that it happens to me. Yes, it is very easy to connect to the positives, yes, you can do many things with little money, but it constantly disconnects and reconnects, one breaks and another one needs to be set up from scratch. Out of the 20 that I have, none of them work together, also many times they are slow in their notifications and of course in the routines that I have set up. For the record, out of the 20, 3 had problems from the beginning. For someone looking for simple automation, it's okay, you can do it again, but for someone who wants it for triggers in a routine or for an alarm, I would suggest looking for something else.
It consumes a lot of batteries and does not have settings in the application.

The best for the 6€ it costs! It works as a trigger for Alexa and you can do whatever you want with it. Now, as for the range that others say, I don't know, I have it 5 meters away from the router and it catches perfectly without any problem. The set up is very easy and the application is very good, which I didn't expect, you can sync it with the Alexa and Yeelight applications, and it automatically detects all the smart devices you have. I will definitely buy another 2-3.
Good and immediate in notifications. Easy installation. It works with rechargeable batteries as well.
The only downside is that the wifi reception is not very good. At a distance of about 7 meters with an intermediate wall, it only catches one bar. By the way, I have also installed an Asus access point parallel to the router, which transmits very well. I mean, the router is not the issue for the weak reception. Nevertheless, it works flawlessly. In the worst case scenario, if I see that there is no signal at all, I will have to use a repeater.
As for how long the batteries last, I will return for further evaluation of the product
I tuned it immediately according to the instructions... It connected to the network without any problem and has been working perfectly for 5 days now... Triggering the lights of a warehouse when the door opens... Flawless... I highly recommend it
The Dw2 works with wifi without the need for a ZigBee hub. Alexa "sees" them immediately and you can do whatever routine you want. Without cables and power supply needed. I use them with rechargeable AA2700mAh batteries. Another amazing smart home product from Sonoff.
It does its job and requires 2 x AAA batteries.
It is quite small and discreet in size.
Another one I had purchased required a strange barrel-like battery that not only cost 3 euros but was also quite difficult to find.
The above has a very easy pairing process, the process is done through Bluetooth but connects to the network via wifi
I have bought 5. One broke relatively quickly, 3 show low battery in 2-3 days, one out of the 5 shows full battery and I have had it for almost a month. They are cheap, but not worth it. I got one good out of 5. I will prefer a different brand next time.
It works very stable without any issues and also displays the battery indicator. A very reliable product.
Quite functional, without any problems. The pairing was done relatively easily, with the modem being about ten meters away without many obstacles. The batteries have remained full for a month now, and we hope they won't be consumed quickly.
It is not small in size, and this may create some issues for you. We had difficulty placing it, as due to its width (3 cm) it did not fit behind the door frame (the same goes for windows), while if it was placed on the frame, then the distance between the unit and the magnet is large, and therefore the contact remains on.
(Detailed dimensions: Main unit: 7 x 3.1 x 1.9 cm. "Magnet" dimensions: 4.2 x 1.4 x 1.6 cm).
I consider this to be its most significant drawback, hence the 4 stars.
I got one for testing, I wasn't particularly satisfied, it doesn't perform well all the time unfortunately, I don't recommend it.
