Description

This book, perhaps the author's favorite to date (year 2020), was structured not for a single category of reader, but for every lover of history, whether simple or educated, who wishes to come into "contact" with a multitude of medieval monuments of the Peloponnese, namely the Medieval Morea. However, this "contact" is not made through the "beaten path" (a simple presentation of the monuments), as such a thing may not have significant value, but rather through hidden existing paths and dimly lit trails that lead far away, to dreamlike and spectacular places, dominated - like an eternal beacon - by the author's linguistic idiom or, so to speak, his literary pen. And not only that, but also his photographic lens, an essential evidence in our time for any (such kind of) research.

In this way, the reader will explore famous castles such as those of Mystras and Geraki, Acrocorinth and Clermont (Chlemoutsi), Patras, Methoni, Koroni, etc. But also many other places with unknown history, such as the Castle of Mila (Château Neuf) of the Teutonic Knights, San Flaviano, Cisterna Rubea (the "exiled" sibling of the homonymous castle of the Knights Templar in the Holy Land), Château d' Arlay or Castle of Arlas (wrongly called Egyptiokastro until today), the castles of Palaiomethoni and Moustitsi (possibly connected to the Teutonic Knights), and many many more medieval (mostly) fortresses of the Morea. Finally, necessary mention is made through this work to the purely Gothic churches of the peninsula, as well as to those in which Byzantine and Gothic architectural elements coexist.
