Description
This is a selection of critical texts on literature, accompanied by the Bibliography of Aris Marangopoulos, an author to whom we owe, in terms of criticism, not only our deepest acquaintance with his iconic work of modernism, Ulysses, but also a critical discourse compatible with his multifaceted writing personality. His extensive readings concern, according to his own characterizations, Greek "proto-modernists" (Solomos, Vizyinos, Papadiamantis, etc.) and "modernist" writers (Seferis, Empeirikos, Alexandrou, Tsirkas, etc.), or movements such as European Romanticism, or conditions such as postmodernism, etc. Through these deposits, his personal theoretical framework for the interpretation of modern Greek literature emerges, which draws its dynamics from the inventions, techniques, and readings of modernism.
This volume contains 40 critical texts that extend over a wide range - chronological and thematic - of the author's work. The criterion for their selection, apart from the obvious criterion of completeness, was their contribution to the portrayal of the author as a critic. The Bibliography of the author, which concludes the volume, has been compiled chronologically, so as to highlight the coexistence of literature and criticism.
