  I have the cheapest Bormann barbecue with two burners (BBQ2200, no longer available as far as I can see) and after several grilling sessions on one plate, I bought a second one. Huge upgrade, there is no comparison with the grates that the barbecue had. The definition of value for money.

  The plates fit perfectly on this barbecue, but from what I read, there are some variations in other models. Until now, I only used the flat side, but now that I have a second one, I will alternate between them.

  I have attached a photo for comparison between the old and new ones - the marks on the old one do not cause any issues in use. As soon as it heats up, the mark in the middle will disappear with a wooden spoon.

  Regarding the issue of non-stickiness: cast iron cookware requires a pre-treatment (seasoning) which ensures that they become non-stick and prevents rust. If the plate is properly seasoned, the food does not stick, cleaning is very easy, and the non-stick layer that develops acts as a rust deterrent (although we should always avoid leaving water on the cast iron).

  In summary, seasoning involves some simple steps:

  1. Apply a VERY THIN layer of some edible oil with a high smoke point (one of the most suitable is probably sunflower oil) on the entire surface. A few drops and a good spread with a towel are enough.

  2. Place it in a preheated oven at the highest temperature for one hour. It would be good to put a tray with aluminum foil underneath. This step requires some caution as it will produce a lot of smoke, so we should open windows in the kitchen, etc.

  3. Turn off the oven with the plate inside until it cools down.

  4. Repeat (the more times, the better).

  Alternatively, seasoning can be done on the barbecue itself, but with the oven, we definitely get a more uniform result.

  Perfect cast iron plate, I got it for the Bormann 3100 grill. Perfect grilling with less smoke! Although the dimensions are not exactly for the above grill, it fits by buying two plates and placing them vertically, leaving a little space on the right and left. It's perfect in height. I highly recommend them!

  I put it on a non-Bormann gas grill. Crazy difference compared to before! Instead of constantly changing the position of the meat to get it cooked evenly, with this plate that I preheat for 4 minutes for safety, everything cooks uniformly and quickly!
