HE ALWAYS PROTECTED HIM.
Since he was sixteen, when their parents suddenly disappeared, Roy took care of his younger brother, Carl. As they grew older, their paths diverged. Carl decided to wander the world in search of a better fortune. Roy stayed behind, on the family estate, in their isolated kingdom, content with a quiet daily life.
UNTIL HE RETURNED, TO CLAIM A PLACE IN THE KINGDOM...
Years later, Carl returns, with his charismatic new wife, architect Shannon. They have a host of exciting plans - to build a hotel on the estate and to flood both the brothers and the entire village with wealth.
AND THE DARK SECRETS BEGAN TO COME TO LIGHT.
The joyful arrival soon becomes the catalyst for a series of events that threaten everything Roy loves and wants to protect...
Family duty, unexpected twists, more and more corpses: a dazzling thriller, an irresistible reading cocktail.

In half of the book, we deal with the protagonist's bird.
The booklet could easily be 1/3 of the total volume, maybe even less.
I had bought it at full price.
That was my trouble.
Average book in every aspect. One would expect that with such character analysis, the ending would be truly shocking. However, reading through the 700 pages, one could say that half of it was pointless. I wouldn't say there is a plot twist at any point, nothing significant at least, unless you haven't read a similar book before. I wouldn't recommend it...
I have read everything by Nesbo and they were amazing, all of them, one by one. But this one here is BORING, INDIFFERENT, AWFUL!!! I had patience until page 500 (and that's a lot). I couldn't take it anymore. It's possible that Nesbo didn't even write it.
Mediocre. This specific book has no relation to Nesbo's previous ones which are very good. Hastily and hastily written. I would not recommend it.
If you like mysteries, murders, and plot twists until the very last pages, it is a very good choice.
The book is of high quality, with a good feel of paper and nice covers.
For Autumn or Winter, with a cup of coffee, it is the best thing!
Complete disappointment, if he has nothing else to write, it's better not to write so often just for the money. Boring as it gets, no relation to a Nesbo book, someone else probably wrote it and put his name on it. I struggled to finish it, I will think twice before buying another book of his
It is a masterpiece. Indeed, the first 200 are boring, a simple autobiography without a plot. But everything happens for a reason. As soon as the plot begins, the simplicity of these pages is completely justified. After all, in order to enter the story, you must get to know the hero.
Scam to the max! You will get bored from the very first pages and don't hope that something will change later on.
I haven't read it all, so I can't judge, but in the first 150 pages it seemed indifferent and somewhat boring to me... I'm waiting to see if it becomes interesting later on and I will come back.
It was so boring that it was difficult for me to finish it, I started it and stopped it many times, something that has never happened with a book by Nesbo. I do not recommend this one to anyone.
Finally, it was a waste of time... I can't find the reason why such a book was written.
I like this new, different Nesbo. I loved the book!
Boring plot, no twists, tiresome due to slow narration, the worst of Jo Nesbo

I liked the plot and the writing style. The descriptions of the murders were very intense
