Description

Mexico City, 1970s. The secret services of the USA and the Soviet Union are convinced that China is planning the assassination of the US President during his upcoming trip to the country's capital. To prevent the execution of the terrorist attack, they contact Filiberto Garcia, a private detective with no moral scruples who describes himself as a corpse-producing machine and an occasional collaborator with the Mexican police.

Garcia will do whatever it takes to unravel the conspiracy. With the help of FBI agent Graves and Laski from the KGB, he will have 72 hours to prevent the assassination. His investigations will lead him to Mexico City's Chinatown and bring him into contact with gangsters, corrupt politicians, and officials. A complex challenge that he won't be able to solve simply by pulling the trigger, as he has learned to do.

First published in 1969, "The Mongolian Conspiracy" is unanimously considered today as a landmark work for noir literature in Mexico. A thrilling detective novel, with a generous dose of humor, it depicts the country's social, economic, and political system in a way that remains dramatically relevant.
