Professional background defocus control with one touch

With a simple press of the background defocus switch (bokeh), you can enable and disable background defocus (bokeh) without needing complex manual adjustments. It is now easy to choose a professionally defocused background or keep the entire scene in focus, just with the press of a button.

Product Showcase setting ideal for product review videos

The Product Showcase setting allows you to switch to the ideal settings for product reviews with the simple press of a button.

It widens the viewing angle and instantly shifts the focus to the object, without requiring waiting time for focus adjustment or placing your hand behind the product to focus on it.

Capture exceptional videos, wherever you are

The ZV-1 is designed for perfect shots on the go. Thanks to impressive image stabilization, you can shoot videos while walking, and when the lighting changes, the auto exposure detects faces and ensures they are properly lit.

You can record even in a crowd with clear voice. The camera's unique directional microphone with 3 capsules captures clear sound from the front of the camera, ideal for movie shooting.

Windshield for outdoor shooting

The wind protector reduces noise for carefree outdoor shots. Thanks to the top-quality sound, you won't waste time retaking a shot or editing shots affected by wind noise.

Use your favorite microphone

With a microphone jack and MI socket, you can choose your own microphone to get exactly the sound you want.

Dynamic video through slow motion

Make every move more cinematic with ultra-slow motion video, capturing the most fleeting moments for playback up to 40 times slower than in real time.

Time-lapse function for cinematic style

The interval shooting function automatically captures images at intervals from 1 to 60 seconds, allowing you to create cinematic time-lapse videos on a PC, with clouds racing and entire days passing quickly.

Capture stunning photos and videos

The ZV-1 has everything you need to capture standout photos for your timeline and videos with your own signature. The high-resolution ZEISS® 24-70 mm lens focuses light onto a large 1.0-type Exmor RS™ CMOS image sensor, with a powerful BIONZ X image processor.

It's easy to know if you are recording, with a clear recording light on the front of the camera, and it's also easy to turn it off if you prefer. You will never forget to press the record button again.

Optimized Grip for Selfie

The larger and better-shaped grip is more comfortable for conventional shooting, while offering a steady handhold, reducing fatigue during vlogging or selfie shots.

This review is about a variation of the product

I will not go into technical details, but I will write my impressions about the Sony ZV-1, after approximately one year of "cohabitation" with it.
The quality is excellent, as expected from Sony, which elevates videos, photos, vlogs, and livestreams to another level with its amazing performance! With sound that will satisfy even the most demanding tastes. With a plethora of settings that will allow you to achieve the best result.
The price increases if you prefer the version with the offered gimbal (100 euros), which works perfectly with the camera, but the truth is that it consumes its battery faster, while there are probably better gimbals out there that you can find and buy. In several reviews, I have read and heard about the Gudsen Moza Mini P 3-axis, which, however, will exceed your budget for buying the camera as it costs around 250 euros.
Its battery performance is moderate. You have the option to power it directly from a USB cable, even with a power bank. However, there is an extra battery/external charger kit available on the market, which costs about 75 to 80 euros.
In conclusion, we can say that the ZV-1 is a value-for-money camera that will greatly help you improve the quality of what you want to produce. If you don't want to spend 800 euros for the camera + 250 for an external gimbal, for example, the Gudsen Moza Mini P 3-axis, + around 80 euros for a battery-charger kit, making a total of about 1150 euros, you can just buy the camera alone for 800 euros and proceed with what it provides.

Good evening, the main reason I bought this specific camera was to take my Livestreams to another level, and yes, I did it!! The camera does everything it promises, it is truly a work of art!! I have tested it outside in daylight and inside a car, and the resolution never disappoints!!

When connecting it to the computer with the Elgato Camlink, I get exactly the resolution I need!!

As for Vlogs, it is truly incredible as they present it to you, I definitely do not regret buying it, and I will definitely consider it when the second one comes out!!

If you can, buy it without hesitation!

    Verified purchase

This review is about a variation of the product

A quality product from Sony. Excellent in video, photo, and sound. Far superior to any iPhone. It is reasonable to think that this is an unfair comparison. And it is. The comparison is made because there are many people who use iPhones for vlogging, photo shooting, etc.

In general, if you have some experience, you can shoot amazing clips and take great photos. However, apart from the remarkable performance, there are a few issues.

First: Even in automatic settings, the camera performs exceptionally well. If you want the maximum result, you should know that it has a huge menu with many customization options, so the learning curve is somewhat steep.

Second: The battery has a short lifespan. It can be powered directly through a USB cable for recording (there is a setting in the menu). So, at home or with a power bank for outdoor shots, everything is fine. However, the battery itself is quite weak, especially in 4K resolution. (The genuine extra battery/external charger kit costs about 70 euros).

Third: Here is where the Sony grip comes into play, which both significantly increases the price and is connected via Bluetooth (to the camera), thus draining the battery an hour earlier. You can turn off Bluetooth, but then the buttons on the grip won't work. In this case, you can do your job with much cheaper grips. Overall, I believe that the battery issue is quite important. On the other hand, considering the size of the camera, I don't think they could fit a larger battery.

Fourth: It is obvious that the Sony grip/controller does not have a gyroscope, and the camera tends to capture slightly shaky videos. There is a steady shot option on high, but by choosing it, the frame is reduced (the same will happen if you choose 4K resolution instead of HD). Here, the lens also becomes an issue, as it should be wider for vlogging. Of course, this can be corrected with a special wide-angle lens kit, such as the one from Ulanzi (more expenses?).

If you intend to shoot videos in motion, even with the highest steady shot setting, there will still be some shaking (all cameras have this issue unless you prefer an action camera like a GoPro or the Sony FDR X3000). Therefore, instead of the Sony grip, I would suggest investing the money Sony asks for the grip in a gimbal stabilizer, which will truly benefit your videos. Specifically, for the money Sony asks, I recommend the Gudsen Moza Mini P 3-axis (also great for your phone). Obviously, if you have the camera mounted on a tripod or stand, you won't need stabilization with a gimbal.

Now let's go back to the positives. There is a software upgrade (version 2) that allows the camera to function as a webcam. So, you can have a fantastic webcam. It also has a screen with great flexibility of movement, it can be tilted sideways (it doesn't open upwards like other cameras). It can be used horizontally or tilted for completely vertical shots. It is touch-sensitive, but only for adjusting focus points. Also, by pulling the screen outwards, the camera is activated (so you are ready for shooting in an instant). It has incredibly fast and effective focus, defocus, and refocus. It has a beautifier mode, product showcase, and many other features. It also has the ability to connect to an external microphone, etc. It can be connected via WiFi to a mobile phone/computer for file transfer. It can also be connected via HDMI to a screen/TV.
The image (video/photos) competes with more expensive models from Sony and other companies without many settings.
It can easily be compared to the Sony rx100 (v7), which has a significantly higher initial price. It is compared in terms of performance, as the rx has many metal parts while the zv1 is entirely plastic (except for the cold shoe and lens housing). It is definitely a vlogging tool, while also having very good all-around capabilities.
Overall, it is truly incredible how good results you can get from such a small device.

Of course, as we all know, technological advancements are moving at the speed of light, so it wouldn't surprise anyone if Sony announced the zv2 in a few months. However, there is a possibility that they will take advantage of the 500 euro margin I mentioned earlier and not immediately reduce the price of the zv1. In this case, there might not be a substantial reason to wait. But surely, the way forward will be decided by Sony itself based on its own criteria (sales, competition, etc.).
