The international Montreal Protocol of 1987 tried to limit the destruction, but the problem remains and the global chemical industry is accountable to humanity. The destruction of the stratospheric ozone causes an increase in skin cancer, blindness in animals, disruption of ecological systems, and contributes to the nightmare of climate change.
