Description

The wide application of Magnetic Resonance Imaging in the study of brain pathology requires as much knowledge as possible of its topographical anatomy. With this in mind, this atlas was started and completed, in order to provide every physician with the ability to immediately and easily recognize the topographical anatomy of the brain in three levels. The selection of the images was made from normal incidents, which were studied on a Signa 1.5T cold magnet of General Electric, at the Neuroanology Department of the University Hospital of Columbus Ohio, USA. For the better imaging of the individual anatomical structures, the techniques with T1 weighting were used for sagittal sections, with T2 weighting for cross sections, and the 2D/TOF technique, with the ability of very thin sections (1.5 mm), for coronary sections, for the better imaging of the main branches of the intracranial vessels.

The use of these incidents was made after the permission of the Director of the Neuroanology Department, Professor Donald Chakeres, whom I warmly thank. I also warmly thank the staff and the director of the University Studio Press printing house, Mr. Andreas Michalis, for the printing and all those who helped in the completion of this effort.
