All sugar alcohols are somewhat bothersome. Xylitol (as well as stevia) irritates the colon, erythritol irritates the small intestine, that's why I prefer erythritol.
It is a good alternative to sugar. It states that it has one third of the calories of sugar while having two thirds according to the analysis per hundred grams.
Very good alternative to sugar if you are looking for something different than stevia. Personally, I tried it because I saw that 100% natural stevia is rare and also very expensive. (Most of them are conventional. If they are not expensive, it means they are not natural either!)
