AN ALTERNATIVE NARRATIVE OF THE MOST CONTROVERSIAL CENTURY

The 20th century should be understandable to us. It is the period we know best, an epic geopolitical narrative that passes through World War I, the Great Depression, World War II, and the fall of the Berlin Wall. But this history does not seem to lead us to the world we are in now.

With John Higgs as our guide, we step off the main road of historiography and wander through some of the most rugged paths of the 20th century. We explore known and unknown aspects of the period, traveling in the company of some of the most radical artists and scientists, with ingenious and eccentric personalities of the era. With them, we discover that major innovations, such as the theory of relativity, cubism, quantum mechanics, postmodernism, and chaos theory are not abstract, incomprehensible concepts, but signposts that guide us to the world we live in today.
