Description
Why haven't you had children yet? A pressing question for young people today, from their social, family, or friendly environment, creating a sense of insecurity, obligation, and pressure that they consciously and subconsciously experience.
The title of the book "Why do you have children today, you know?" is a reversal of the previous question, which, as mentioned in the book, stems from needs, prejudices, stereotypes of the past, as well as myths of the present that do not take into account the new social realities experienced by young people in a society characterized by difficult conditions due to contradictory and asymmetrical economic development today.
So how does one make this very serious decision and lifelong responsibility today? With criteria that are truly their own? Or perhaps based on myths, prejudices, and social customs that come from previous generations, in which different social and economic criteria and other needs prevailed?
Today, new impositions-prejudices are also cultivated in order to "overcome" the state's responsibility from the contradiction that exists between the social need for children and the individual-family non-need for children.
At the same time, the constantly decreasing social provision regarding the family results in underpopulation, and not, as you may think, only in Greece.
Also, the goal is to absolve young people who, due to objective difficulties or, why not, personal choice, have decided not to have children. This book explains the above contradiction, which did not exist for 5,000 years before the industrial revolution!
