This book is part of the Third Series of the written work, with the general title "All and Everything", by G.I. Gurdjieff. The author started it in November 1934 and, inexplicably, stopped five months later, leaving a preliminary outline. Nevertheless, the text, as it is, served Gurdjieff's purpose as a Teacher in the 1930s and 1940s. The first chapter is mainly autobiographical, with material that is very important for understanding the nature and intensity of the required personal effort for a multifaceted work on oneself. It is followed by a series of lectures given by Gurdjieff to his group in New York. Although notes on this work of the group have been published by some students, here we find one of the few published records where Gurdjieff himself offers guidance to the "community of researchers". The last part of the book, which remained unfinished, is a short essay on the topic: "The External and Internal World of Man".
