Psychoanalysis has achieved a lot since the Interpretation of Dreams, but it wouldn't be anything without this impulsive wellspring of creative ideas, without this monumental symbolic landmark of an entire spiritual century, an entire culture. Freud's famous phrase that "dreams are the royal road to the unconscious" also shows traces of his effort. Alongside the deciphering of the dream, inevitably, it leads to the discovery of the significant concepts of his theory, which make their first appearance within the pages of Traumdeutung: Oedipus complex, unconscious, neurosis, regression, etc. The dream will no longer be attributed to a single factor, such as a bodily, perceptual stimulus or a concern of the day. Its genesis will be contributed by a multitude of heterogeneous factors within the unparalleled interweaving of the famous "work of the dream," which behind it, of course, Freudian insight will locate - constantly present, a mark of an entire animal species and culture - the unconscious desire.
