Description

When art and human passion are supported by scientific consciousness, respect for humanity and especially for Nature, a creation can only happen.

A creation, like this edition, which the author, for decades now, has been seeking in the sea, in the water where life first declared its presence, to discover the inexhaustible infinity in variety of species, sizes, shapes, relief worlds and colors.

All these were encountered in the shells, in the movements of the gastropods and in the shells of the bivalves, close, closer and far, farther away, in every outing and search inside and outside the water.

And every time, the search brought new species to light, increasing the range of diversity and strengthening the desire for new efforts.

Then, a material was gathered from shells that you could enjoy with your eyes, with touch, you could "... hold them in your palm...", to listen to their sound.

However, the author wanted to share with us all the emotions and all the knowledge or information that can be drawn from such a long and laborious effort but also systematic search. He wanted the images of the shells framed with basic information about their morphology and classification, to be able to reach us and touch our soul and mind, to take us on a journey to the wonderful biodiversity of life in the most scientific and artistic way possible and to further raise the need for study and respect for Nature.

This bilingual edition presents Greek shells, known and unknown, for the first time in a manner similar to international scientific publications such as atlases and concise collections. It can be used by anyone interested as well as by specialized scientists.
