Description

"The Pasha and the General" is the detailed diary kept by General Demirel from the first day of the invasion of Cyprus and continued to fill in with retrospectives of the past and projections into the future until his death in 1988.
Demirel gave his diary to the writer and journalist Erbil Tousalp shortly before his death, who managed to present it in an artistic way in this book in order to avoid the censorship that always looms in Turkey - in many issues, but mainly in matters related to the military.
Mustafa Lala Pasha, who occupied Cyprus in 1572, and General Bentrrettin Demirel, commander of the Turkish Amphibious Forces in 1974, meet in the "other world" and discuss their experiences. A computer that reads thoughts, and to which they are forced to resort, unravels the "potential" views of the Pasha and the "national" views of the General and reconstructs the diary...
The events narrated in the diary are of crucial importance to our modern history, and the current situation in Greek-Turkish relations endows it with unexpected relevance.
