The question of the existence of other worlds in the Universe that host life, especially intelligent life, has occupied some of the greatest minds in history. The "debate" about the existence of other worlds began with the ancient Greek philosophers (6th century BC) and continues in various forms to this day. The topic began to seriously concern the scientific community after 1990, when the first observational results confirmed the existence of other planetary systems in the Universe. However, systematic scientific research began in 1995 and continues today with constantly improving detection methods, as well as theoretical studies of the subject. For the first time in human history, current generations have a realistic opportunity to learn if we are alone in the Universe.
This work is a contribution to the presentation of the problem of extraterrestrial life and the research effort being made to discover another Earth in the Universe. The relevant research aims to discover exoplanets with conditions suitable for the development of intelligent life. By the end of October 2018, more than 3,800 exoplanets had been discovered, of which fifty-five are potentially habitable.
