Description

The guitars of the LTD EC-1000 series are designed to deliver the sound, feel, look, and quality that professional musicians need in an instrument. The EC-1000 VB Duncan is consistently one of the most popular guitars due to its combination of incredible looks and outstanding performance.

It offers a body, neck, and headstock with a vintage appearance and gold details, and includes top-tier components such as LTD locking tuners, Tonepros locking TOM bridge and tailpiece, and classic passive Seymour Duncan JB/'59 pickups.

It also features a set-thru construction with a mahogany body and neck, and an Ebony Macassar fingerboard with 24 frets.

HH Pickup Configuration (Humbucker-Humbucker)

1 Seymour Duncan JB (bridge) & 1 Seymour Duncan '59 (neck) humbucker

This layout includes two humbucker pickups, which are mounted in the position of the central pickup and the bridge pickup of the guitar.

Humbucker pickups offer better response to low frequencies and bass sound, as well as greater resistance to noise. This makes the guitar suitable for loud riffs and solos.

Additionally, it is equipped with active pickups, which require a battery to operate. The advantages of active pickups compared to passive ones are that they almost eliminate noise and have a high output signal, resulting in a quite clean and "massive" sound.

Body and neck construction from mahogany (Mahogany)

The mahogany wood it features offers a rich, warm, and deep sound, with strong bass and well-balanced mid and high treble. This sound is suitable for many music styles, such as rock, blues, jazz, and heavy metal.

Fretboard made of durable Ebony wood

The Ebony wood featured in the LTD EC-1000 offers a hard, stable, dark "full" sound compared to other woods, such as Rosewood or Maple. This makes it suitable for musical genres like metal, rock, and jazz, where a sound with more sharpness and intensity is required.

Additionally, its high density provides stability to the fretboard, helping to reproduce frequencies with more accuracy and balance.

Les Paul style body shape

The ESP LTD EC 1000 electric guitar has a Les Paul style body shape, which is one of the most widespread shapes in electric guitars.

This shape was created by guitarist and inventor Les Paul and is a timeless design that is popular with musicians of all genres and experience levels.

I have had it for about a month. I expected it to be heavier than it actually is - like a Les Paul - but its slim shape makes it quite lightweight. Nevertheless, I recommend a good strap for extra comfort if you play standing up for hours at a live show or jamming with friends.

The pickups perform perfectly across the entire rock/metal spectrum as mentioned by the friend below, but the neck EMG 60 pickup also handles clean/blues tones as well as high gain solos. Of course, I believe the main responsible for the perfect coverage in rock/metal tones (power chords, palm muting, etc.) is the EMG 81 in the bridge.

Be careful with the 9V battery (which it is advisable to replace after purchase due to its long period of inactivity inside the guitar case), after playing, disconnect the cable, otherwise it will drain much faster.

The frets slide very smoothly, the neck is also thinner than expected, resulting in great comfort for both chords and solos. Additionally, the sustain is very satisfying (especially in combination with a set of good strings) and lives up to expectations.

The locking tuners work flawlessly (at least for me) and provide great stability in tuning, even if your playing is quite aggressive. Additionally, as mentioned in a previous review, the matte finish requires regular wiping with a dry cloth, as it retains marks from playing (fingerprints, sweat, etc.).

In summary, it is an instrument that, in my opinion, is worth every euro - and it shows as you use it. Let me put it in one word: QUALITY. I hope I helped!

Excellent for its price. The guitar in general is particularly slim and lightweight for a Les Paul type. At the same time, it is very convenient, as since 2017 it has acquired an even more modern heel joint, resulting in a suprstrat feel when playing from the 15th fret and below. The pickups are the classic combination of EMG 81 with 60, standard for playing with a lot of distortion. I recommend the 18v mod with the addition of an extra 9v battery, as it gives them more headroom and dynamics, making the instrument more versatile for rock sounds. On the downside, the body always needs cleaning after playing, because the color and gold-plated parts are very sensitive to fingerprints and smudging. A very good and reliable instrument that covers the entire spectrum of Metal.
