"The struggle for the 'orthodoxy' of a doctrine, among 'orthodox' theorists, is always a typical phenomenon of decomposition, repeated throughout the history of thought whenever a theory is shaken. Unified Marxism split into two directions: the 'orthodox' and the revolutionary, both of which subjected the Marxist doctrines - that is, Marxism as a whole - to critical dissolution. (...) Under these conditions, mysticism and irrational elements of human nature, rejected by rationalism (...), caused a severe upheaval, reaching the danger of complete bankruptcy of the scientific method."
