The Garmin Instinct is a rugged smartwatch designed to withstand the toughest conditions, with resistance to high heat, shock, and water.

It is primarily aimed at those seeking a durable and reliable sports watch with GPS for tracking their athletic activities. It is also suitable for hiking, cycling, climbing, hunting, and fishing.

This durable & reliable adventure GPS watch is built to U.S. military standard 810G for resistance to high temperatures, shock, and water (up to 100 meters depth). The case is made from high-strength fiber-reinforced polymer, while the high-strength crystal display is scratch-resistant. Its screen has sufficiently high contrast to be visible even in bright sunlight. Additionally, the fully ventilated silicone strap features two independent removable loops that can be easily replaced by the user.

Built-in GPS receiver

The combined capabilities of the GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo satellite networks increase the accuracy of your location in challenging environments. The built-in 3-axis compass and barometric altimeter help you stay on course with precision. Your return journey becomes a breeze using the TracBack feature, which guides your Instinct back along the same route.

Sports Features

The Garmin Instinct monitors your heart rate, activity, and stress throughout the day, so you know how hard you're working and exercising. When you're ready to train, the Instinct has preloaded activity profiles for running, cycling, open water swimming, and more.

Well, I bought the watch after months of extensive market research, and it's worth every last euro for me! So far, I haven't found anything negative about it!

The screen is perfect, don't expect crazy resolutions and such, I'm telling you now, it has an MIP-type screen, everything is crystal clear under sunlight, it doesn't "black out", and no matter which angle you look at it, everything is visible!

It is very lightweight on the hand, it doesn't bother you at all in our daily activities, except for workouts or other activities in the mountains. The strap fits well on the hand and is quite flexible and comfortable.

The measurements, as far as the sports part is concerned, are excellent and very accurate! As for the outdoor part, mainly the barometer and altimeter, I would say that sometimes it may have a slight deviation, but even that is acceptable at least for me!

Its GPS is very accurate and locks on quickly, of course, it won't find a GPS signal indoors due to the building and the many antennas and signals!

+1 major point is that you can customize the screen and display whatever you want, for example, a heart rate monitor or altimeter, barometer, steps, etc.

Finally, its battery is quite satisfactory, with 24/7 heart rate monitoring, about 1 hour of GPS usage per day, and constantly connected to the phone via Bluetooth for notifications, it easily lasts 8-10 days!

And one last thing, the watch is exclusively intended for people involved in sports and for people who love nature and frequently go on mountain trips, etc!

It is not a watch for more "formal" outfits, it is not solely a smartwatch, although it has several smart functions, it is an outdoor watch and very sporty, it is a watch that will help you track your performance and become better, but it is also a watch that will save you from a difficult situation in the mountains, and it has GPS, Glonass, Galileo, TrackBack function, and many other features!

I truly enjoy it every hour and moment when I use its capabilities, I never take it off my hand. I highly recommend it and consider it "ideal" for all security personnel, military personnel, and hunters, of course, since it can be connected to a dog collar! It has military specifications, so don't be afraid, give it a try!

Of course, anyone who has the money and wants to invest it will go for the Fenix series, which have the same capabilities and even more, they have a different character and build quality, much better screen, etc., but all of that comes at a price, we're talking about more than double the price of getting an Instinct, which is very fair for its price and capabilities, and I consider it the only choice without competition!

I hope I helped..

—————***UPDATE***—————

After 5 months of daily and tough outdoor use, everything I wrote from the beginning still holds true, the battery easily lasts 10 days while constantly connected to an iPhone and with all notifications active. The strap is still very elastic without any signs of wear and tear!

—————***UPDATE***—————

After 1.5 years, the watch is still as if I bought it yesterday, without any signs of wear and tear, the strap is still holding up well, the screen is scratch-free, the battery lasts the same, and it hasn't frozen even once. I think that's enough, I have nothing else to say..

Nice watch but the GPS does not work well in the sea, the measurements are very inaccurate. Therefore, it is not a good choice for those who are regularly involved in swimming.
For running, it is okay

The watch overall is good, but this model's barometer and altimeter sensor breaks every 2 years. In 4 years, I have already replaced it twice at the service center

Great watch! After 7 months of usage have no disappointments. The solid body, very convenient buttons - during the runs and swims its never a good thing to have only touch screen. When running trails with big elevation changes, great at showing all the necessary data. The signal is always good, have never had a problem with losing it neither in flat running, neither in high height in the mountain running, neither in the sea while swimming for few kilometers. The screen visibility is great, especially in the sun!!! Which I was not expecting. The open water swimming tracking is very accurate. The best choice for its money and maybe in general! Love it!

Perhaps the most value for money product that Garmin has released. It doesn't break or malfunction, it measures exceptionally well, it has a great relationship with water, and at the price of 190 that I bought it, you can call it a bargain. In the two years that I have had it, it is just like when I bought it. And in terms of battery life and appearance.

Impressive smartwatch ideal for sports use, as it has several measurement functions, with good accuracy and satisfactory durability against scratches, falls, etc.
Its screen is clear, but quite small for reading messages. Additionally, the default blue backlight it has seems somewhat annoying (see attached images). Especially when compared to other smartwatches in the 100 euro range, it falls behind in terms of screen quality.
Finally, the connection to the mobile phone is easy (for call notifications, messages, etc.) and the mobile application is quite user-friendly. I recommend it for someone who primarily wants it for sports use, investing in the accuracy of its measurements.

Very good watch, I have it for over a year, it is very good in measurements except for swimming where it loses its signal and its measurements are incorrect, that's why I gave it 4 stars. In other words, for someone who wants it for open water, it is better to go for something else. It works great for everything else, I have used it for cycling, running, and hiking, it works perfectly with the alpha 100 for dog tracking

Excellent. I use it as an adventure watch and not as a smartwatch, so the battery lasts about 14 days.
The measurements are accurate except for the altimeter, which confused me a bit, but I'm not particularly interested in it. I had the same "issue" with a previous Suunto watch.
The app has a great interface on the mobile (one of the reasons I bought it) and provides analysis with all the information I need.
I bought the graphite version and also bought an extra silicone strap (be careful, there are others) that is an exact imitation of the original design, since the official store didn't have it.

Very good, very light, I believe it is better than the more expensive Garmin models because it has few and good features and therefore does not have any problems like other models. I highly recommend it, with eyes closed...!!! The battery lasts about 10 days and if you use GPS, expect about half the days...

I have it for about 2 months. You don't feel it in your hand and it's very comfortable. Battery lasts at least 1 week and charges very quickly. Accuracy in measurements, maybe it doesn't show accurately in temperatures as it is affected by the temperature of the hand. Many functions. If you are into hiking and mountain walks, it's the best.

Good evening everyone. I bought it in the summer of 2020. I wear it every day. I don't use the smart functions - notifications. I mainly use it as a simple watch and for running (GPS). With the use I make, the battery lasts about 7-9 days. It syncs instantly with the iPhone. It's waterproof, scratch-resistant, drop-proof, etc. Simple, understandable, and elegant. It's not a gadget smartwatch like the Apple Watch or any other of the same style, but it performs this task perfectly! I recommend it!

For anyone who is amateurly involved in running (swimming, cycling, running), it is great for their money, I haven't worked with it as a smartwatch because I'm not interested. The only negative thing about it is that I struggled a bit to adjust it with Garmin Connect (to measure in kilometers instead of miles)

You don't need to write a lot, it's simply the best in its genre!
I will only write this: some consider the black and white screen, its resolution, etc. as "bad".
But it is precisely this type of screen that makes it PERFECTLY readable in sunlight, that's why people put it, because it is specifically designed for sports.
On the screens of watches that are the size of a TV for mice, what would we see then.. what the wind takes??

In the positives, the GPS accuracy is very good, battery life is long (around ten days with heavy GPS usage), and there are many options to customize the data you want to see on your screen. Essentially, you can choose what you want and place it wherever you want. On the negative side, the optical heart rate monitor is quite accurate during running, but not so much during cardio and hiking. It also has some issues, such as freezing with GPX maps, but I don't know if it's the watch's fault or the file's.

The battery autonomy is very good, depending on its usage of course. I use it on a daily basis for running and other sports activities. It lasts me a week with 10 days of full usage.

The build quality is quite good. I would suggest adding a screen protector for extra protection, for those who will use it in more extreme conditions. It is quite lightweight and comfortable. The strap is elastic and feels nice on the hand.

Overall, I am very satisfied. It is what I expected. It is worth its money.

Good evening, and from me, the owner of this specific product, I have been disappointed for two days now from the GPS aspect, specifically in the open water swimming option, which interests me the most. When the watch enters the water while the GPS is locked, you press start to begin the activity, and from a certain point onwards, while the stopwatch continues to count, the distance stops being measured. In other words, it loses the GPS signal and only finds it again when you stop and take your hand out of the water, and then it starts measuring again while the time continues, which is completely unacceptable. And at the end of the workout, the track shown in the Garmin application indicates that you have covered distances on land. I haven't tried it in other activities, maybe it performs better there. Ultimately, it's not worth the money I bought it for, I truly regret it.

The watch was purchased for 299 in 18 interest-free installments, a good purchase due to the installments. It strongly resembles a Casio G Shock. Previously, I had the Fenix 3. Its battery easily lasts a week with 10 days of 6-7 running workouts, but definitely not 14 days. The fact that it doesn't have a color screen plays a role, along with intense usage and continuous heart rate monitoring. It is much more comfortable and lightweight on the wrist compared to the Fenix 3, especially for those with thin wrists. The GPS locks on much faster than the Fenix, and its heart rate monitor is very accurate. It loses floors, showing 2 instead of 4, while the Fenix displayed them correctly. One downside is that those with presbyopia may have difficulty due to the small screen. It appears and is cheaper than the Fenix series, but definitely more durable than all Garmin watches. For me, it's not worth 300 euros; wait for it to drop to 250 or below.

After a month of use, I have to say that it is very comfortable to hold, the measurements are very accurate, the battery is very good (lasts around 20 days with normal use), the quality is very good both in the dial and the strap, and the GPS accuracy is amazing. It leans more towards being a sportwatch rather than a smartwatch. I would like a higher screen resolution because the pixels are almost visible. It is borderline value for money at the price of 260 that I bought it for.

Very powerful watch, accurate in measurements, a true companion. For anyone who wants a aesthetically pleasing watch with watch faces, etc., it's not worth it to get a fenix. As a sportwatch, it's exceptional and durable.

P.S. I used it in the marathon, its accuracy made a difference both in GPS and wrist HR, as well as its battery life. Excellent.
