In recent years, there has been a surge in the publication of foreign and Greek books on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Spatial Analysis (SA). However, literature on the intersection or intersection between these two dimensions of spatial science is virtually nonexistent, despite the increased interest in spatial information in our country, as a result of spatial analysis necessary for management and decision-making processes, both in the private and public sectors. And it is precisely the coverage of this gap that the publication of the book Geographic Information Systems and Spatial Analysis aims to fill.

Indeed, each of the three parts as well as the entire book aim to address specific needs, such as:

The first part will help those who are part of the decision-making process (e.g. politicians in positions of responsibility, executives, etc.) to understand the capabilities and basic elements of GIS and SA, without having to delve into technical details.

The second part will help those who want to become users of GIS and SA (students, researchers, etc.) to fully understand this tool. It deals in detail with all the necessary steps for their proper implementation, ensuring the spatial nature of the approach and, above all, the integrity and usefulness of the spatial database.

The third part will help those who are one-dimensional users of GIS, that is, they can comfortably compose complex digital products without having a documented knowledge of the spatial analysis required for their creation. This is provided, albeit in a limited way, by the last part of the book.

Finally, we consider the book as a whole to be an essential complement to the library of all those who manage, analyze, and design the use of GIS as a means of analyzing spatial information.
